Phish is a band some of you might not understand, but maybe you should. They just started like their 30th summer touring and they play some of the best music (instruments) in universe right now.

Getting excited because I get to see them late summer. Hopefully they do some more west coast stops this fall.

Here are a couple of new videos that I found and helped me pass some time. They are pretty much soundboard audio and hd recording. Add some of yours if you want. Tell a story about a show, especially if its from 2010.

WOLFMANS BROTHER 6/18/2010 HARTFORD, CON

TWEEZER REPRISE < TWEEZER REPRISE (encore same song twice) 6/18/2010 HARTFORD, CON

I went Thursday at Camden and then a couple weeks ago at Hershey. They were my first two phish shows and I was blown away

this also reminded me of "Big Cypress" new years 1999 concert, they played from 1130pm to 630 in the morning to bring in y2k.

It's not at darien it's at cmac. I live 3 or 4 hours away and I was going to go till I dropped all my loot on fixing my car. Hopefully we get a late summer tour before fall tour. I like my outdoor venues.

A Day in the Life

Best thing I have ever heard. The 7 below >ghost was amazing.starts off a little slow for some of you people but it gets fire hot. Seriously one of the sickest things,

Trey will never play like he did in the 90s. But he still does a sick job. gordons mvp on the bass though, as good as ever. Page and fishman still killing it as well.

you should go to a show sometime, that will change your mind pretty damn quick.

jam bands take a couple good genres and just suck the life out of them by mashing them all together and incoherently droning on for 20 minutes.

ive started to listen to them alot more. i love the dead so i figured i might as well try listening to phish. and i realized that they're great. but, just like the dead, IMO all phish/dead studio stuff sucks. i think its just not them. but LIVE is way better. everyone should check out http://www.nugs.net for some sweet phish/grateful dead

The bands you listen to wish they could jam. Wish they had the skill to improv at that level.

Plus phish actually posses amazing individual talent. Each band member is highly skilled.

phantom planet is nothing like phish..

but phish sucks. worst part about phish is phish fans, how many fucking hours can you sit there at a party and talk about individual shows that you've been to and what the set lists were. seriously shut the fuck up i dont give a fuck how that show was last week or how much better they were here then they were there or how no one was paying attention to tre cuz the other dudes were rocking so hard or any of that fucking shit. put on some real music and get me a beer.

i know they don't sound the same i just figured i'd assume most nerdy engineering students liked these shitty bands. (bad dating experience. hahaha)

well right now i'm listening to sam cooke if thats what your asking. i have a pretty wide range of musical preference but none of it includes 19 minutes of nonsense to which i jam out to when i'm "grooving" or refer to as "heady".

i'm down with people liking whatever music they like, just don't fucking sit around at a party talking details about all the different fucking tour dates you went to. something about people who follow around jam bands on tour & thats all they have to offer to any conversation just bugs me i guess. ( i only mention this because i went to a party the other night and every motherfucker in there just talked about all the phish shows they'd been to all fucking night)

not my freinds i've got great freinds with similar tastes in music. its just every goddamn phis fan i've ever met is like that. or fucking sucking on furthers dick cuz they didnt get to live during the days when jerry was alive.

First you sound like you have anger problems. Second talking about shows is perfectly fine. Especially when your seeing ridiculous amounts of shows. Third nobody likes the elitist people that bitch all the time about how the band will never be like the tour in 94.

But seriously go give your money to your friend so he can buy you a cheap beer, you can't get drunk and be happy.

So we may have just found the root of your problems.

" i went to a party the other night and every motherfucker in there just talked about all the phish shows they'd been to all fucking night"

So everyone was talking about all the shows they go to and how much fun they were, and you were left out? You don't go to very many shows, regardless of genre, and you had nothing to add.

"something about people who follow around jam bands on tour & thats all they have to offer to any conversation just bugs me i guess"

I can think of one big thing quickly. A chill and friendly attitude. You seem to lack that pretty hardcore.

If you hate people talking about jambands, don't go to a party with people who like jambands. Or even leave at that point, go drink on your own. They were having fun, just because you had nothing to contribute and got nothing out of it, you're getting all bent on people for no reason.

1. Stop crying

2. smoke a blunt

3. Chill

4.???????

5. Profit from not being all bitchy

why would i give my money to my friend so he can buy me cheap beer and i can't get drunk and be happy? I'd rather keep my money and go to the store myself and get some nice beer.

i guess i just met 5 of those "elitist people that bitch all the time..." and it was fucking lame. generally when having a conversation about a show that nobody else went to you are either bringing up a highlight to make a point about the band overall or just saying how much fun it was. these kids were just going on and on about how many tanks got finished and how much molly they took and what every song was and how much worse/better it was than the last time they played that song live somewhere else nearby or shit like that and it got annoying.

i don't mean to impose upon your enjoyment of phish i was simply commenting on my feelings about phish which i guess was wrong of me because this is an appreciation thread and i do not appreciate, so for that I do apologize. carry on appreciating.

you sound bitter. phish is sick.

i hardly even listen to them anymore, but i still have tons of respect for what they do/ have done. theyve been rockin since like 1983. hell, i first saw them in '95.

maybe don't worry so much abou other people's music preferences. brah.

anyone who thinks jam bands play an extremely difficult genre of music are dead wrong. any group of 3 or 4 retards can improv something that may sound cool, but really has no meaning, power, or expression. Whether one is playing, or simply listening to a song, music for me is about getting an emotion that correlates to the song, in jam bands, there is hardly any emotion, which is thus why i also find it boring.

i bet some of you are thinking im some sort of metal head, but im not at all, so don't throw that comeback at me.even the seemingly wimpiest of musical genres (classical) can have power beyond words.

I usually avoid calling people retarded based on their musical choices. For you I call you retarded based on the ignorance you just showed us.

"any group of 3 or 4 retards can improv something" Not anywhere near the level phish is on. believe me if they could do it they would mix up their songs a little more.

I'm not trying to say that jambands should be everybody's favorite bands. I'm just telling ignorant people like you that you're retarded. Regardless of what genre you prefer, you should be able to appreciate good musicianship in even bands that you don't like.

Seriously gtfo. You can't even appreciate skill in genres that aren't your thing.

Wow this thread went from being decent to bitching and whinning about who's music is better. If you don't like phish then fine, no need to say someone is retarded or what not for liking them.

I saw SPAC first night and Great Woods. I enjoyed both a ton. For those who don't know Great Woods, it is now called the Comcast or Verizon in Mansfield MA. Great Woods had way better sound on the lawn then SPAC, the problem is SPAC does not have enough good speakers set up for the lawn. If you are center stage in the lawn then it sucks. Both set list were great.

Here are some links to the shows, all recorded by tapers in the tapers section. I don't have the soundboards if I did I would share them with all of you even the haters. Sorry, they are only streams no downloads. All of these are legally taped. I pretty much have all the shows from this tour on stream. I just need to find them in my email. If you want some other streams from this tour hit me up.

There's no point in trying to convince someone over the internet or even in person, to appreciate phish. Your words and arguments won't convince them. Most of the time they say phish noodle around aimlessly because they heard a part of a jam were they WERE noodling around. If you were part of a jam out of context, it will sound lame as hell. The thing about the band is they will do that until they get somewhere. A lot of times they'll fall flat with a jam, and sometimes they'll go somewhere great with it. They take a chance, and sometimes they fail. Are you gonna tell me a Reba jam or a Harry Hood jam before you feel good about hood won't sound noodley to the average person?

That being said, I've won over the biggest phish haters by taking them to a show. Only then will they understand the power and energy of the band, which is what it's all about. Listening to tapes won't convey the energy of a show.

Also, phish fans generally ARE the worst part about the band. A lot of them really suck.
