Philosophical Questions

We've been studying transcendentalism in my English class and it's some really interesting stuff. Reading excerpts from Walden and a ton of R.W. Emerson stuff. The whole notion that we are all connected in some way by the same sort of guiding force is sort of interesting to me because I'm far from religious, but the transcendentalist view of the "over-soul" and all things being connected and animated by the same thing seems to make sense to me.

"We first share the life by which things exist and afterwards see them as appearances in nature and forget that we have shared their cause."

And I found this playlist of speeches and such to ponder.

Contemplate The Universe Inside You from cosmicapathy on 8tracks.

It's an interesting idea and I feel some connections with it, but I approach it from a different angle- the sciency angle. I love thinking about how we are completely of the universe. A conscious aspect that has come about through the same fundamental forces acting on quantum particles that share origins with the same particles, forces, and energies that make up everything else. So I don't see any mystical, supernatural connection with all of life. It's just a fact that we share an origin with everything in the universe, the big bang.

One concept which i have found particularly interesting is that of perception. Though its not exactly philosophy, it does have many philosophical aspects. There is an interesting concept in many Indian religions, which is known as maya. Maya pretty much means that what we perceive our environment to be is only a projection of what it actually is. This projection is actually created by us though. I don't actually know much about this, but i just started reading the wiki page. Interesting stuff.

Did some 4ACO-DMT the night before last, got really philosophical and thought about perception and stuff. Hardest trip I've experienced. Mind-blowing stuff..
