is there one ? are there mountains close ? ... i really don't know too much about the area but am thinking about moving out to temple for school but those are sort of a deciding factor at the moment ..

where are you coming from? it's getting bigger since i moved to philly 6 years ago. there's bear creek, blue mountain, jfbb, and maybe camelback all less than 2 hours away, so if you've got a car, there are definitely options. my sr. year of college i skied about 5 days a week because my roommates and i all scheduled our classes to be off tuesday & thursday, and done by noon fridays. temple's got a pretty big snowboard club, which to my knowledge is what all the non-gaper skiers join. they're actually putting on a rail jam in center city in a month or so. i work right outside the city now, but have a few friends who plan on just catching a bus from center city to my work, meeting me at 530, and getting in a couple hours of night riding during the week. if you're coming from VT or UT or somewhere else out west, you might want to kill yourself, but if you're from somewhere who doesn't really have great skiing super close, it's not too bad. Mt snow is doable in about 4 hours too, for an easy weekend trip.

oh word thanks for the input man, i'm actually coming from western pa, about an hour away from seven springs and pittsburgh but was just thinking of doing it for a new experience

yeah im right outside of philly too but i was wondering where all ya newschoolers at. we need to get some backyard setups going. PM me i got a huge kicker/ramp/drop in if you want to use it.

first post pretty much summed it up, i'm right across the river in jersey, but it's definitely growing, like just the other day i was longboarding in a neighborhood when i spotted a sick backyard set-up in someone's yard, shit was sick, like perfectly welded rails and boxes, my guess is that it was a snowboarder though cause there was skate ramps in the drive way

youre not that far from bear, blue, cbk, and blue, which are lots of fun and usually have good park setups

Just think, if you live by Temple you can get some "lifestyle" shots in an actual hood...not in a suburb of SLC or some silly thing like that.

Dammit, I didn't know TGR was coming, I would love to go but I got some other crap going on. Next year I'm going to make it to a Philly ski movie premier or Brobomb is going to host our own!!!
Formica, Philly definitely has a ski scene. It's a scene full of people who just can't leave the east coast or move to Vermont, but are just as passionate about skiing as the rest. Like Justo said, if you're not coming from some amazing ski scene you'll be ok. Just prioritize your time and you can get some good skiing in in the PA and VT if you drive up on weekends. I'm a weekend warrior and I get 50 plus days in a year living in South Philly.
You can ski and live in Philly.

damn i wish i had know about the ski premier in Philly.

I live 30 minutes from Philly near west chester and go to school at Longwood Gardens. theres a few kids who are younger than me who ski around here and i try to get up to Big Boulder as much as possible but usually i go home to Mt snow.

if anyone has a backyard rail or set up and wanna sesh, hit me up. i never knew there were any skiers around this area
