I've thought this the whole time, someone posted Belanger's run to the vid section, and now I'm totally sure. Phil should have run. So the japanese kid threw down a huge flat spin. Ok.

Phil's run: 5 mute, big phil grab, inverted nine safety, alleyoop 5 safety, stylin tail grab. The whole run was big, smooth, had variety, and tons of style. Not to put down Shimo (i think), but I'd say it should have gone to Phil.

i think that guy isnt good at all... and tanners run was sick, way better than CR's, he barely decked, i mean decking in my opinion is when u slam was over not tap ur skis........ errr

i do understand that their are criteria for judging, and I understand that his flatspin was huge. You obviously can't change the minds of judges of an event that already happened.

I'm saying *I* think they made the wrong decision. It was a pipe comp, not a big hit contest. One big flatspin shouldn't win the comp. In my first post I spelled out why I thought Phil should have won, mainly that he did go pretty big with all his tricks, had more variety, and more style.

i'm entering X superpipe next year and my run is going to be me riding down the middle of the pipe drinkin a Mountain Dew, with a giant Vans logo on my back. When I get to the bottom, Redman and Methodman are going to be wating for me with some Rightguard. Guaranteed podium finish.

phils run was SO smooth, it had a lot more style then Shoyas run, and cr fell while going down switch. I dont know where to find the other vids tho...

phils run was good... but that japanese dude went HUGE. I duno if the film caught it or not, but it was SOOO SICK. he fully deserved the win. I thought the judging was really good in that event. Taner was killing it in practise though. but yea... I don't think you guys should bitch about the judging. pipe is about going big. that shit is sooo sick.

i'm so sick of people saying 'but he went soooo huge'. yeah it's a matter of opinion, but cmon, i still don't think one giant flatspin should get you first compared to phil's run.

in the long run though it doesn't really matter i guess, I doubt pros sit around at the end of the day and talk shit on who won what (but then, maybe they do).

You cannot say that Phil's run had more variety. He did basicly 3 tricks, 2 of which were very easy, and very similar. Cork 9 was SICK, then 2 540s and some straight airs. LOTS of style, I wont disagree with, but he DID not have more variety, and he didn't go as big.

i think the asian guy had a handicap because hes not as big name as tanner cr and belanger, which is gay cause the skiers should be judged on their skill alone because they are pros and are just about as good as each other. its anyones game, it should be balanced.

no more talkin bad about C.R grrr... I agree that it seems like one big trick in a slopestyle or a half pipe contest would outweigh (spelling?) an entire clean run. It seems like every contest is just a big air comp disgised (spelling?)

yah, well at least it's not like snowboarding where it literally is SPIN TO WIN...like if y ou dont do a completely unstylish 1080 you dont win. that's hwa ti like about skiing cuz i think we're past that, and i didn't see global X but i guess personally i would vote style over spin, so from what i'm hearin, phil shoulda won.

style is way more important i think. a huge style 7 should always win of a crappy looking 1080. Shimo is good, there's no denying that, but Belan should've taken the gold.

 
for everyone here who has ever competed in a competition you would know that every competition is different and basically some days judges like style, some days huge ass tricks that are more ballzy than a bag of marbles. You just never know how they gonna screw you
