Phantom Camera

Has anyone used or worked with a

phantom camera? I was looking at getting one but I was just after

some info on what people think of them when using them and how the

footage turned out and which one you used?

you are looking at getting one and you're asking newschoolers about their thoughts?!?!?! You will have to drop $200,000 for the flex......unless you're talking about their lower end cameras, but even those cost stupid amounts of money. No one really buys it, they are mostly just rented. They have such a limited use and you can only record for a few seconds at a time

I've heard $60,000, which is still more than a t2i haha, and this might've been for body only. Beyond what you said, I think it was in Bobby's Life where they had one and the guy said powering it was a bitch. If OP is serious, get a sony fs700, they have a 240fps 1080p burst feature, up to 9 seconds, and it can be set with rear triggering like the phantom. not at all the same camera, but cheaper and more versatile. And I would seriously consider renting and researching

yeah I helped with a shoot that used one and we had to lug around a big generator the entire time. not to mention there's a bunch of guidelines regarding how to shoot with it that are unique to the phantom. op is either a troll or has no idea what he's talking about

After a quick google, do phantoms really have a am ISO of 1000?, if so what situation could you possibly shoot at 1/500,000? Even pointing at the sun at f/0.95 I would imagine it'd be too dark, is that for just some serious indoor lighting?

Im not sure about 250k fps but for like 1000 you'd do 1/2000 or 1/4000 so you'd be ok

This is either a complete retard, or a troll that is a cine at some production company in relation to the sport of skiing. A Lilhorsey type thing perhaps?

I looked at his profile to see if there was anything I could discover....

Look at his member number! We're less than 40 members away from 200,000!

I think that's so epic.

I don't understand how this works. Sure it doesn't use a mirror, but does it start a couple exposures before the first one is finished?

Because if you're shooting 250.000 FPS at 1/4000 you need to shoot 63 shots before the first one has finished to keep up. Pretty amazing...

dude no haha you wouldnt shoot shutter 1/4000 for 250k fps. I was saying for 1000fps youd shoot 1/2000 or 1/4000. You really need to shoot a shutter that is twice your frame rate or else its gonna be very blurry.

Where did someone see 250'000 fps ?

They go up to like 2500 fps max, no ?

Because seriously, 250'000 fps would give you like 3h of footage in only one second...

"Shoot at resolutions up to 2560x1600 pixels at anywhere from 10

frames-per-second up to 1,455 frames-per-second (fps). Maximum speed

increases as the resolution decreases – up to 2,570 fps at 1920x1080,

5,350 fps at 1280x720, and 10,750 fps at 640x480."

Phantom makes a lot of camera's that shoot upwards of 100.000/second. Even though they're not in high resolution, there's still gotta be a reason they're able to shoot at those framerates.

Is it a Dutch thing to use a decimal point when showing large numbers? At first I just read it as 100. How do you show decimals?

Almost the same as metric vs. imperial:

Except its just the USA Burma and another small country that still uses imperial units, but thanks, surprised I hadn't known before about the decimal comma thing
