Recently crashes and deaths have been occuring around the country due to unexperinced skiiers and snowboarders going down trails which are simply to difficult(I've been hit three times). This makes it more dangerous

for everyone on the mountian. What i am proposing is a free national certifation to ride up certian lifts at designated mountians. To beocme certified youd have to take one run with ski patrol and it would be immediate, aka you pass you get it rihgt there and can go forever. So there is no recertifaction. So just post your name under if you agree, if you dont odnt say anything cause i have to send this in.

it would be good but think of... time ski patrol would have to spend on certifying people therefore mountain would have to spend more money for more time slash more ski patrol taking away from all other budgets including park budget which on most mountains is already ridiculously low

but... its a good idea so ill sign anyways

They should do the same thing with park-passes, watch the video then go out with a ski patroller and get certified. (Taking a group of people at a time)

I'm more concerned about the bad kids in the parks than anything... and i think you need last names too

i think they should do it for parks... have a special pass for the parks so only people that hit the jumps and do rails can go in and not tourists that dont know how to ski and use it as a run with fun "rollers"

i doubt it will work, good idea but come up with a more time/cost effective process. AKA something that doesnt involve ski patrol, because though this idea might make skiing safer, at the same time your going to tie up lots of ski patrol, and there goes ur saftey again.

Ski anywhere you can, anytime you can.

That is the most asinine proposal I have seen in a while...a certification process for skiing!! Holy crap, that goes against EVERYTHING that makes this sport what it is...

We all take risks and our rewards are won through pain and practice...

What makes a patroler competent to judge someones ability...they are there for putting bandaides on cuts, not evaulating how hard you ski...

Let peoples stupidity teach them...you injure yourself skiing through your actions then its your fault...

the next time you try learning a new trick or stepping up to that 70-foot table, think about how much it would such for someone to come up to you and ask for your Ski License...

Lame Post, Lame Idea

Personally i think its dumb idea really. Besides if u leave a section blocked off to general public ur taking away from the mountain. So why is that good business for the resort. There are already park passes for like 10 bux for advanced parks now thats a good idea

I was hit from behind from a out of control beginner that couldn't stop last year, I never even saw him comng but suddenly I was on the ground bleeding everywhere with a concussion and cracked helmet and goggles

what about people who have never been in the park before, but want to learn. The people who want to learn still should be let in, even if they suck. Just not moms and 3 year olds, and 70 year old guys who ski around all the jumps

Ski. Eat. Sex. Sleep. Ski.
What else is there?

^^ if it was just a release form and a small fee we would have to pay without a ski patrol giving you a test it might work.

liberty is one thing I like about skiing, I think its not that much of a good idea. And yeah, what about people who want to learn? and all that

WHen i get hit its casue im standing sitll on the side of a trial so one who doesnt kow how to stop nails me.

you have got to be joking. that really is a piss poor idea. i understand your intentions but seriously man, re-read what you wrote. they are all going to laugh at you!

why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice?

give him some respect for the idea...it would be just like the park pass thingy

that wouldnt work -- it would take waayyy too much time. plus that would mean someone who is good at skiing but sucks at snowboarding could still go on those trails/lifts. skiier discretion is the best policy.

That idea makes no sense at all. How can you expect someone to learn how to ski a more difficult run if they can't have access to it? No matter how good you are at a "blue" run, you'll never learn to ski a "black" run unless you are actually on it.

According to this ski license idea then you'll need a tree-skiing license, cliff license, mogul license, etc. You'll have to carry a freakin' roladex of licenses around just to ski.

this idea is retarted. i agree for terrain parks, but anything else is unnecessary. you can't control the lift riding, it would only hurt the mtn. how are you supposed to become a better skier if you can't challenge urself. bad skiers are everywhere.

well we already have this at my hill (avila/st-so), you have to buy a 10$ park pass and sign a waiver stating you understand the risks blah blah blah. i think its a great idea, it keeps the tourists out and at the same time you get to see the money came back into the park...

will not happen. but yes, i wish gay-pers would know their role and stick to the flats.

that idea makes the sport of skiing entirely too governed. what if you are on vacation and only have a couple days to ski, who wants to spend half that time waiting in line to get certified to ski most of the resort? communism didn't work for russia, and it won't work for skiing!

if i said it, it must be the truth!
