i noticed Freeskiers demographics was kind of a big issue early on this thread. i don't recall seeing their Media Kit (demographics, circulation, etc) in any of the previous 9 pages so here it is

and having majored in Advertising, i can tell you that companies know how impressionable their advertisements can be - that is why they advertise... unfortunately, media as a whole is a business and will take the highest bidders. that being said, i think a company like Freeskier, knowing that they have the youngest median demographic, should recognize the intentions of a tobacco company and not endorse a harmful product.

Skiing is a business, and as much as all of us consider it a sweet

hobby, lifestyle, sport, etc. It is a business. The pros ski because

they love it, but they need sponsors to live their lives comfortably.

Let's think about most (not all) pro skiers, not many of them have a

college education... what are they gonna do when they are 35 and have

their ACL's replaced 7 times? They're gonna need money to live off of

and support themselves. So If they are offered a big check to put the

word SNUS on their left heel binding, they're gonna do it. It's up to

parents to teach their children that tobacco is bad. enough said.

I would also like to point out that Major League Baseball players have

been dipping on NATIONAL TELEVISION for over 50 years. MLB players have

a lot more little kids idolizing them than peter olenick. They also

make a lot more money. And guess what, mom and dad don't like seeing

Miguel cabrera or David ortiz with huge lippers in but its not gonna

change anything. I mean did anyone even watch the homerun derby last

night? David ORtiz had a huge chaw in while he was holding his own son

in his lap! No one shit a brick about it.

If you are a young person and you have a problem with tobacco call your

government. If you are a parent and you have a problem with your kids

doing it, discipline them.

I know I'm gonna get hated on hard for this post but i guess that's why I only post once a year now.

and did you see adds all over the stadium and bleacherrs for snuss/dip whatever? .. no. thats because there arent any. those people have the right sense of mind not to advertise in that area. thats what this thing is about, the places where tobacco is advertised, not the use of it.

skiing is not just for kids, it's for everyone. You shouldn't care, and shouldn't spread hate and discrimination against people for the choices they make. Some people smoke, some people don't. Kid's know it's bad, still some kids will smoke, you can't be their parents, and pro-skiers shouldn't be expected to be either. so fuck off.

The second hand smoke that refers to is more like mom and pop smoking in the house raising kids or having a family member consitently smoking around a person. Not you going to the hill 40-50? times a year and maybe being next to one cigarette smoker every couple times you go. The random smoker smoking in an outdoor environment will do little to nothing to your health.

Bottom line is smoking on the mountain does little to anyone's health. It could bumb your time out having to sit in someones cloud of smoke or have them throw butt's on the snow, both instances are them being a doucher. Smokers can be inconsiderate and hurt people's time but it's not effecting your health so dont bitch about that, you're just being dumb.
 
and health care goes up because of obesity and other reasons too, not just smoking. Blaming smoking for you having to spend more money is just plain wrong.
