Aright here's the deal. I know the olympics are just around the corner, and some skiers are uber competitive pipe jocks. But please, can we stop calling skiing training? Training is a racing and moguls and aerials term, and it sucks to see it being used in our sport.

nice fuckin petition. in reality, it is training. not every day you go skiing is training, but when they're training, they're training. not much a "petition" is going to do about it.

I'm never going to go skiing to "train", and I assume neither will you, but guys who are actually putting in practice and hard work to stomp that new quintuple misty 3600 are. I don't like it, but it's the truth, and your shitty petition thread is going to do nothing to stop it.

he has a good point. if you're a pro soccer player and you are out messing around with some friends, that isn't training. but when you get to practice and start doing drills and progressing towards a certain goal, that is training

It's weird, but shockingly you can't just become the best in the world without practice. Now if you'll whip out your thesaurus for me real quick, you will see the words "practice" and "training" quite alarmingly close together.

Why the fuck do you care what other people call what they do? They are technically "training" if they're trying new tricks on bag jumps and shit. Yeah, they're just "skiing" but some guys take it mad serious and want to do very well in contest and that is their own choice. You don't have to call it training, but anything involved with the olympics, people are gonna call it training. Get over it.

you ever thought that training is fun for them? going out on the ski hill with the intent to progress and accomplish ones goal, doesnt sound like fun...and training to you?

it's their job, yeah it's fun as hell but you can't just stop trying new things and when you're making a living out of it sometimes, probably most times, you're going to have to learn new things faster than if you're just cruising having fun they have to train even if they don't think of it as training it's what they're doing and off season/gym stuff is just making them stronger so they won't get hurt as easily not to mention being stronger/more flexible will make pretty much any physical activity, like skiing, easier

sparknotes: pro skiers are training even if they don't like to say they are who fucking cares

Training- (Noun) The education, instruction, or discipline of a person or thing that is being trained

Example: "OP is training for his daily life by taking three dicks up his ass at once."

Why do you guys consider Pipe skiing 'aerials' There are no pipe triple or spins over like 14 (okay maybe 1 or 2) But really this is the first time I heard all you guys say that pipe is bad like you say for slope style. Just something I noticed.

sorry to the op and everyone that thinks skiing is not a sport and the term "training" doesn't belong but skiing is about to become as mainstream as snowboarding and there's going to be big money and olympic glory on the line in Sochi so there will be "training" both on and off the hill.

slope and pipe are going to be as serious as moguls in the coming years.

you guys wanted the olympics and this is what is going to come along with it.

HAAAAZAAAA.......more 12 year olds with jiberish hoodies down to their knees rocking sports chek skis, and swearing on the chairlifts so they can be more "Street"

Thank you Olympics.....thank you.

there is no real conversation here except some kid from bumfuck northern ontario with nothing better to do whining that competitive skiing is becoming serious.

oh and you think I'm from bumfuck northern ontario?

Dude you're from Mississauga, the true asshole of Ontario. Have fun working your dead end job as a bootfitter for the rest of your life, dreaming you were a pro skier.

Suck it.
