No this is not another "Tanner on Leno" scam, this actually happened:

Interviewing to promote Claim... the interviewer inadvertently asked an awesome question right off the bat: what are you going to see in this movie that you wouldn't normally see in ski movies? All she needed to do was preface that with "given that this is an MSP movie..."

I actually thought as far as skiing in the mainstream media it was pretty good. They chose legitimate clips and Sean and Shane came across as good guys who just love to ski. I mean it was a little silly but I thought that they did a good job of promoting skiing in the media.

I'm glad that skiing is getting some posative attention. Although things like "daredevils" and "speeddemons" really piss me off.

why doesnt anyone grasp the idea that skiing is not just going down the hill, and think that snowboarding is the hip winter sport? people are so stereotypical when they think about skiing. no one at my school believes me when i saw that i hit rails and jumps and shit, just like their precious snowboard dreams. it really pisses me off

honestly I'd rather keep it that way.

Of course I want skiing to grow, and I want to get the cred all the riders deserve, but do we want fucktards who buy a pair of twins and call them selves hardcore?

Let em snowboard, that's where all the wannabe's will end up. Keep skiers core imo.

"thats not the skiing I do" O FKN REALLY? I always thought "ms. good morning good morning good morning" did 7's off of 80ft cliffs. lolzer

Haha, "everybody is a somebodayyy"
I think this actually went well. Shane put her in her place about calling skiing extreme, and Sean got the message across that skiing is something we do because it's fun, not because it's EXTREME HARD CORE.

i have a pic of seth morrison hucking a cliff in my toolbox at work and everybody just glances at it and askes me about snowboarding... pisses me off, and they think theyre connecting with me or something

I think it's funny how dumb news people sound talking about skiing, but to other gapers it would just sound like typical news filler, and the skier(s) are portrayed as being like some kind of freaks by the news people saying 'extreme' and 'daredevils'- The way she talks about "daredevils trying to get their adrenaline fix through skiing" or whatever it was she said makes them sound depraved. They try to do that because it seems so dangerous they try to make it seem like something that requires a special kind of insanity, it's probably a natural reaction to warn people against something they could get hurt doing They don't take into account all the years of skiing, knowledge, training and preparation that it takes to ski like that, because they can't imagine someone devoting their life to skiing.

I think that's a GREAT way to put it. You said it dude. They try to promote skiing I think, but they don't see what they're actually doing. I think younger kids all the way to like Junior High kids would be like "extreme?" "That sounds really cool and looks so much fun, we should try it." I know that's how I would have thought at that time.
