Peter Schiff nails moron occupy protesters

contrary to you i study finance and will have my masters degree in july.

you know how many hedge funds (managed by professionals bringing home 6-7 digits) outperformed the S&P500 (or a similar benchmark) year after year?

around 10% do it year after year. and no, most of those which outperform one year are not so good in another year. i challenge you to tell me otherwise, but i have never heard of a fund which outperformed a major benchmark (not some fake benchmark, i know that shit), lets say, twenty years in a row? because very well informed people should be able to do that, right?

fact is that winners write books and give interviews and losers dont, but the seperation between winners and losers in stock markets has more to do with luck and stochastic probability than with pure ability and IQ (if you wanna go down that route)

google it. i found a few sources like this. in combination with other articles

if you read my post or at least have the mental capability to skim over it, you would realize that i never claimed to be right more often than anyone.

any financial analyst who openly says "do this, do that" is either a liar or a fool. if he knows 100% that he is right, he would shut up and become a millionaire by tommorrow and a billionaire within a week. shit, he could leverage your portfolio 30-50 times or whatever and earn several millions with minimal investments.

Bunch o' bull shit if I can put in my 2 cents. Trolling OWS is a great way to look like you've got the answers, especially when you're a big wig with an education of a top 1%er. A lot of those people had no idea or barely any idea of what the movement was about, and gave it a pretty bad name. This guy has plenty of answers, but he confronts the weaker of the OWS people. The free market system is inherently fucked and always will be. People don't seem to realize that sustainability and preservation are the enemies of our market system seeing that profits rely on scarcity. The free market will be what fucks up our world the most. This guy's not getting anything productive or beneficial done, and neither is this comment, but wake up for christ sake. Free market is fucked.

that was cute...

liberal logic- tax more + spend more than you tax = less debt

We dont have a free market system, you idiot. Youre as dumb as the owsers in the video. Government intervention caused the bubble, not the free market. Jesus you are stupid

If we had a true free market system the housing market would have stayed grounded instead of neing high on acid with government guaruntees. You talk shit about the american free market as if we actually have one. Your fucking stupid dude go research hong kong or singapore to get a clie what a real free market is like

He deserves credit for more than that; he stood by his opinion for years despite ridicule and being in the minority, only to be proven right.

I'm not an expert on the topic but there have definitely been bubbles and recessionary periods. It was argued that if we let the banks fail it would have cost more money than bailing them out. In any example you can say here's the government policy that lead to the economic crash but there are times when capitalism crashes the economy (ie risky bets on the housing market, dot com bubble, great depression, etc). I agree that in the long term, everything returns to equilibrium but we can do better than having these huge speculative upswings and subsequent crashes.

There are definitely negative externalities that need to be avoided by having a government. Perfect example is that companies would pollute the shit out of the world if we didn't have environmental regulations. Companies would kill people if we didn't have proper regulation for food/medicine (ie upton sinclair, the jungle). Sure, if people knew what company was providing them the food that made them sick, they could buy food from someplace else, but you still let a lot of people die in the meantime.

I don't think the government runs efficiently, but just because there's waste and inefficiency in the FDA or government in general doesn't mean we should get rid of it.

Here is why I hate politics from the libertarian party website: "We should replace harmful government agencies like the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) with more agile, free-market alternatives. The mission of the FDA is to protect us from unsafe medicines. In fact, the FDA has driven up healthcare costs and deprived millions of Americans of much-needed treatments. For example, during a 10-year delay in approving Propanolol Propranolol (a heart medication for treating angina and hypertension), approximately 100,000 people died who could have been treated with this lifesaving drug. Bureaucratic roadblocks kill sick Americans."

obviously we need a new market system to prevent the complete destruction of our planet.

you free market guys can take your short term profits as long as you want, but practically free markets have shown that they arent supporting their own structures time and time again. furthermore, not every single purpose of a market can be expressed in $ signs.

but you guys are all so cool because your parents worked so hard and gave you that republican sticker for your sweet sixteen.

"We will continue to believe homosexuality is never genetic and comes from outside influence despite having no valid evidence for it"

"We will continue to believe that no regulations are necessary in nature or human action"

"We will continue to believe that everyone who uses govt assistance is a leech and doesn't deserve it"

"We will continue to believe that abortion is the murder of children despite it being an opinion and not backed by facts"

That little picture is fucking retarded.
