im not saying you will die, but if you never wear a helmet and you atually try stuff, theres a really really good chance you will get fucked up pretty bad i dont care if you dont want to wear a helmet, id reccomend it but you can do whatever you want. were not making fun of you for wearing a hat, so why do you care if we wear helmets?
 
im sorry this is one area where i have to disagree with you if your good enough to get photo incentives then ur good enugh to get shots in mags with helmets seriously the whloe wearing a helmet won't get u published is kinda bs simon peter mike were helmets most of the tim jon wars um a lot as do many other pros and for those who don't want to heve lou gerigs when there 60 its a good choice id rather not drool into a cup the rest of my life
 
that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. while i agree wearing a helmet is important. this is one of the biggest problems with wearing a helmet. stupid kids who think they are invicible. it has been proved that helmets increase neck injuries (im not saying this to argue against helmets, keep reading). some kid now puts on a helmet and give'r's at everything because he thinks he is safe wearing a helmet. then he goes and breaks his leg or because of the helmet, his neck. Im not saying dont wear a helmet, Im saying dont think you are safe just because you are wearing one.

I got a good reason:

my friend overshot a jump in the sketchy spring conditions. he had seisures to the point where the med copter had to induce a coma on him to secure him. then he came outa that induced coma and instantly went into his own coma for a week. he suffered severe head injuries. he had a giro 9 on. he would have died instantly, on the spot if he didn't have a helmet on. this ones your average 18 year old freeskier.

I'll give you a reason to wear one. My friend almost died doing the same stuff all of us were doing, it coulda been any of us. You all now in spring conditons the runs speed changes every time you go up the lip or when the sun moves.
 
I dunno about when they ski... but those guys are retards for not wearing their helmets when they get beligerantly drunk every night of the week.
 
I don't wear a condom, every girl who has sex should be on birthcontrol. As far as condoms preventing stds, I woudn't fuck a chick with aids even with a condom.

Helmets do cause neck injuries..or increase the chance of one...when i knocked myself out last season (with helmet on) I also broke my c5..i was told this was becuase of the helmet...but then again they also said i would be dead if I did not have it on...so yeah now i have neck pain daily (even 7 months later) but atleast I will be skiing this season!! and I dont havr to be in a wheel chair...

And when Rainville was practising switch tens last season he was wearing a helmet.

yeah, and Seth Morrison, who wears the sickest TLD fullface they make, is absolutely a pussy. suuuuure, he could do what Jamie Pierre does and get fucked up a few times per season, but he's a complete pussy and decides to protect both his body and his future. i mean, he even uses a back protector so his spine isn't damaged if something goes wrong... what a fag.

i wasnt saying dont wear a helmet. im saying kids will think they are bullet proof, and then hurt themselves trying something dumb. they will huck their body. but yes! their head is alright. but they have a broken neck, hip and two broken femurs.

out trying to stomp new stuff off jumps & rails, a helmet is in order.

And its required that I wear one while skiing on the job; it saved me back in april, so I like that policy :)

just because people crash and they happened to be wearing a helmet does not mean the helmet saved thier lives. people use that way to much. or somone died and they werent wearing a helmet. but yeah helmets help save your head for sure, but not as much as most people would think i hear.
 
Last year was the first year of my life that I ever wore a helmet skiing, and I only wore it for about half my days on snow. I recieved 2 concussions WHILE wearing the helmet. Without the helmet I was perfectly healthy. Go figure.
 
Translated, that means "this one time, I hucked a cliff, somehow ended up going switch through a grove of trees, and hit like, 3 of them, but came out of it with only a concussion, instead of like, death". It was gnarly!

And your helmet does suck..it's a batting helmet that you got at the Whistler re-useit center for something like $3. It's held together by duct tape and "University of Whistler" stickers for fuck's sake!
 
Not wearing s helmet is stupid. I never ski without mine, it's warm, comfy and to think just because you're a good skier means you don't need one is just plain dumb. And I've been skiing my whole life. I need it just as much as the tourists from the flatlands 'cause I ski a lot rowdier than they do and the risk for serious injuries are a lot bigger on my behalf. Last year at my resort some guy died after smashing his head, he was standing still and just lost his balance and fell. Bad luck I guess. What I mean is that you never know how you'll crash, you don't need to be doing switch 9s in the park to get a bad injury. And I also always wear a back protector, it has saved my back sooo many times when I have crashed my back into rails.

wear a helmet, know your not invincible cause of it and know the risks. If you still don't wear one, it's you own falt if you get fucked up. Don't just say since you haven't needed a helmet there dumb.
 
ok, i mean if phrosty is only taking it for pros, its no problem, because i think they are very confident while doing 'normal' stuff so they dont need one.

but for 'us' standard skiers, who really hit the ground with our heads, its just dumb not wearing a helmet. its like in all sports, you CAN fall on your head, and smart people use helmets.

i was riding switch once, caught an edge an fell backwards on my head. damn, my head was bumming and humming for about three weeks. i wont think about what would have happened if i wasnt wearing a helmet.

take mountain-biking as an example, all pros use helmets. helmets are required on every XC,marathon,DH-competition, even on those small XC-races in participate in.

and for the look: i got a r.e.d.-helmet with dark-blue paint and those turquoise flames on the back. a hat cant be steezier than that.

one of my friends was snowboarding and fell back and got a concussion. the best part was that he was makin fun of us for wearing helmets on the lift like 10 minutes before it happened
 
nah, it's a good example. people assume (as he said he did) that landings are going to be softer in the backcountry and tend to take less precautions as far as protective gear goes. he could just as easily made a small mistake that sent his head or entire body into the backside of the landing (remember he was going 53 mph). if he wants to risk his life so that some middle school kid on here will think he's cool, that's his deal, but i don't value anyone's opinion enough to take stupid risks just so they think i look cooler than i would with a helmet on.
 
a local semi-pro goose..he over shot the massive table at the trple challenge and bailed HARD. he spilt his hlemet in two places. he would most likley be dead right now if it wasnt for that helmet
 
so i just stumbled onto this post, and im actually disturbed. in place of this ignorant fool who thinks hes cooler than all of us, i apologize to those who have or know those who had to experience accidents the hard way, hopefully people will learn.
