Pet snakes

i have a 5ft-ish male redtailed columbian boa. his names spot. and im thinking about getting a red corn after the new year and naming it red rover. anybody else on NS have snakes?

i had a red tailed boa for about 3 years ended up at 6ft... name was spike .... but it just got too big and i ended up giving it back to the shop and then they sent it off to a zoo... so it was pretty cool =o

just make sure if you want it to be nice and what not you handle it A LOT(i didn't handle mine much and it bite my pops in the hand), and you can also feed them dead rats to make sure that 'animal instinct' doesn't take over.

its fun to show off to friends =)

we tried to feed mine a bunny but it just ended up spitting it out... what a bummer =|
 
yea ive had him for about 2 months and hes really calm and good to hold when hes not grouchy. he has yet to bite me or the girl i got him from. hes about 3 or 4 years old and a rescue. he eats frozen large rats and baby bunnys about 2 every 2 or 3 weeks.
 
i dont own one, but theyre pretty cool. if im in a pat store, i will most definitely look at some of them
 
hmmm? My dog eats mostly what I eat, and some dogfood. I don't usually feed him live mice. No offense to you or your snake, but I don't really relish that whole concept.
 
thats sick! my bro and i wanted to get one from petco, and hopefully let it grow really big. but we didn't get it. although we used to have pet gardner snakes, and one cool special snake(don't know what type) until it escaped in our house. and that was the end of snakes!
 
yea i got mine from a friend for $50 so much much cheaper then a petstore. ur dog eats pig, beef etc.. and those can both be considered pets. i snake does NOT eat live food. he eats pre-frozen large rats and small rabbits.
 
Erroneous. I've been vegitarian for the past three and a half years, and unless my dog is getting scraps from my grandma or someone else, he doesn't eat any meat either.
 
nah never had one, but my friend has pirannhas(sp?), they're so cool. we have a good time tossing meat in the tank and watching them kick the shit out of everything.

so u buy specific dog food for ur dog? and yes i know u can change ur dogs diet to make them vegan but many get very sick. and cats are STRICT carnovores (sp) and will die if u try to make them veggie
