So after I bought my skis and had them mounted(today), I turned them over to see a little sticker -Made in China-. Cool, I ski on skis where they REALLY know whats going on, China. Im such a little bitch.
go to k2's site for their factory team (k2factoryteam.com) and you see the different stages of the way the PEs and Pistols are made. so what if they are made in china? they are developed where it actually matters, so if they are made in china it just means the skis are cheaper for us
It really doesnt bother me that they are made in China, I just didnt figure thats where they would come from. I figured France or something, but thats Rossignol, right? I wouldnt have bought them if they were made in the US
i read something from k2 about moving to china, the guy who wrote it was trying to play it out like since they were moving to china and they had to pay the workers like 25 cents a day that they could afford to have more quality control. My ass you greedy corporate sons of bitches. But its all love, cuz they got pep

and... lower quality. they are getting paid less, less incentive. lower costing material, worse ski. thanks very much but ill pay an extra $50 if the ski is better. and it really isnt saving us that much money. the company is just gonna take like 5% off the price even tho they save 99%. its bull shit. gimme some uh-mur-ickin skis
remember; i cant be trusted, becase the only ski movies ive ever seen were the warren miller ones, and in the haze.
and yes, i am in love with (a) sam caylor and (b)harvey.
They may be nice skis and it may just make things cheaper for us but I think having skis made in China is the begining of things just becoming really cheap. I guess? I really have no idea actually... I just think that soon everything will end up made in China and be shitty quality because companies will start to realize they can focus on making money instead of making nice skis.
you people have no idea on how international business actually works... its pretty funny to see you all discuss this 'they sell them for 5% off and only pay 99% of that' sure they do buddy... im sure they still have to import the materials to the china warehouse where labopur is just a lot cheaper... and it doesnt mater what kind of incentive you have over there, those people need jobs and they are not going to want to use them.... and im sure that K2 is making money off the ski's but it is definatly not 99%, if anything producing them in china will allow K2 to have better materials IN their skis and still sell them for cheaper than everyone else...
What the hell were they doing with a car on the moon?... havent they gone far enough?
there was an article in SKi magazine about them in China with some pics. They had a little cartoon of a Red White Blue ski with 'made in china' stamped on the front of it.
i read that...the move makes sense in an economical sense because labor and land are cheaper over there. lots of companies are moving production else where because truth be told a lot of the items 'made in the USA' aren't very high quality. u don't know the skis might even be better off being produced in china because even though those people are making very little cash making the skis. thats the only way for them to have any sort of income at all. so if they make shitty skis they're gonna get fired and have no income for food clothing etc...
But on the flip-side think about how the move to china for production will effect buyers loyalty to k2. everything is based on the market and on how we buy so if the move to china doesn't go over well they might move production back to vashon. alright thats my 2 cents
