So im in college and have my student loans to pay for my tuition and im onyl at a 2 year school and only plan on attending for 2 years ... i don't necessarily need money but i do want it to purchase some stuff and just have it incase i need it....and my question to my fellow newschoolers is have any of you guys done this before? or is it something i shouldn't do?
 
I have a line of credit that I use for emergencies and big ass purchases like a car. I try and keep myself from going into it to buy new skis and things I want when I don't have the money saved because it is a slippery slope and many people just end up fucked and in debt. I think they are fine if you have self control, don't know you or your attitudes though so i cant recommend either way. My credit is still good and my experience with loans helps when I go for bigger loans like a mortgage which I hope to do here in about a year and a bit.
 
yeah i have great self control i mean my rents give me like 60 bucks a week for just any time cash and i barely go out and spend that....but i kinda want to spoil my self this christmas for my good grades and such hah i know it sounds kind of funny but i like the idea...and it would be nice to have some funds to tap into when i need it....any idea if there are any set ups like a student loan where i wouldn't have to start paying it back till im done with school? hmmm...need to research haha
 
I am pretty sure student loans are an anomaly with their amnesty period, generally banks will not give out free money. Look into lines of credit, they are renewable and interest rates are low enough now you may be able to float on one for a bit, i have mine paid off but I personally get all weird when I own money and bust my ass to pay it off as soon as possible.
 
word. i hate owing anyone anything.

i pay cold hard cash for everything, i do have a credit card that is in my name and i have NEVER missed a payment or not payed it all off at the end of the month.... if i dont have the money, i dont buy it.

o thread creator, your lucky to get 60$ a week from your rents. dam my dad is a cold hearted you know what, he doesnt give me any money. lol but thats life and i am feircely independent for it, so its not all bad.
