Perfect ski for tahoe

a-life

I've been thinking about getting a new set up this year and just moved out from VT. Had park skis all my life and they obviously do me no good here. Unfortunately I know very little about bigger skis and what works well here with the heaver snow. Any suggestions would be appreciated? I'm thinkin about bent chetler's, ARG, Hellbents, and ANTs. 6'2, 215.

well seeing as you have a pro form for armada and K2 that narrows the choices down quite a bit. and also considering they have already sold out of the JJ and Obsethed that narrows the choices down even further. Armada has the ANT and the ARG left, and the only decent choices for a k2 all mtn./pow ski left are the Hellbent, Kungfujas, and possibly the Side Stash only because of your size.
My vote goes to either the ARG or the Hellbent, I know they are both huge but keep your park skis for park and other stuff and get yourself an all mtn. ski when the season is over (top of squaw got 677" last season we have already gotten upwards of 20% of that and it is Dec. 1st. why waste such a deep season on "all mtn." ski.)

cause ARG's are straight up frightening in bumpiness or anything that is hard. Trust me i love my ARG's but i wish i had a "middle ski" because in tahoe you get pow days alot, but they turn into choppy days after noon alot.

get something with sidecut. Look into ON3P caylors, Atomic Blog, 192 benchetler would be ok, k2 seths.

get something stiff, with a lil bit of rocker, and some sidecut.

don't get hellbents.

where do you ride?

I hear you on that, but like I said the man has pro forms for Armada and K2 so it's hard to argue with an $800 ski for half price. Then just save for an all mtn. ski toward the end of the year while making due with the park skis he already has on "less than pow days". You arn't going to ride the large skis every day or even close, so that in turn means less wear and tear and a longer life of the ski. I say again I would recommend capitalizing on a great deal on expensive pow specific ski, then save and hold off for the all mtn. ski you have your sights set on.
By the way, the Hellbent out-carved the Bent Chetler in basically every ski test this year...

benchetlers in 193 would be the way to go- they were made for the cali snowpack.

in regards to carving, i have no idea how hellbents beat benchetlers. chetlers rip in the trees and carving- they carve like race skis

yeah for sure i'm not sure how it happened hellbents they looks like they would have trouble out-carving anything but i guess the proof is in the numbers...

IMO the Seth or a ski like it is by far the best for around here. 99% of the time our snow is so wet a really fat ski is not even necessary, unless your a really big dude.

don't get hellbents..if you've been on park skis all your life you'll kill yosef. If you want something versatile that you can still float in deeper snow, go with the obsethed. lotttt more side cut than the hellbents, but the contact point is still a ways back. i wouldn't say tahoe snow is heavy, you can definitely get away with a softer ski. if you were looking into bent chetlers, i'd recommend demoing a pair. they're a bit stiffer than the bents, but you might enjoy them.

^Agreed...I love my JJs. The obsethed's would be good too for an all-mountain ski, like it was said before if you are going from a park ski then I think you want something a little more versatile and with sidecut then the Hellbents.

110 ish in the waist with rocker twin is the best ski you could get.
I ride hellbents on powder days in tahoe and they aren't stiff enough, but it all depends on how and where you ski.

I just got some liberty helixes and they have worked really well for me in tahoe. They are a bit wide for an everyday ski but I havent run into anything that they cant handle.

The JJs are thea shit... The end.

If I only got one do-it-all ski it'd be arvs or obsethed. In tahoe, buttering is very important. Same applies to life.
