Perfect North needs to step up their game!

i wouldnt say that and you can post what your park is gonna look like but are they goona back it up who knows and at perfects you know what to expect which is a killer tie every time

that's true. Apparently the word on the street is that MRMs park is shitty. Like bombholes everywhere and the like. Can anyone vouch for this? I find this hard to believe because if you go to their website and look at their pictures of their park, everything looks SO sick. How can it be that much worse than the pictures?

i skied mrm about 5 times last year. the first couple time were janurary/february and it sucked. a million flat boxes but no variety in jibs, jumps were super small and teriible. then i went the last week they were open. HUGE change. sick two jump line and great slope course. so what i think is that it took them some time to get their shit together with a new park crew and all. i hope they do pull it off tho and have a sick park

The only way you get into Freeskiers resort guide is basically paying them money for advertisement. So since they paid money, they get a little paragraph in there. We know that our park is better than theirs, and until they actually back up all the stuff that they are claiming, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would really like a cannon box on one of the middle section of jumps. doesn't have to be anything amazing but a canon box. Also for my first year of skiing park at pns. Everyone there is so chill and the park is in good shape. wish they would have the corrugated tube set-up all year. I really enjoy that one. But i think mad river will be a year or two behind pns unless they really get there act togeter, which in this economy will not happen. Just my 2cents. I'm probably wrong.

You have to keep in mind we have a limited amount of space to work with. We also like to switch up features so it isn't the same old park all year, and we only have so much snow to work with. So we definitely do the best we can with what we have. Tad the park designer reads this cult forum, so he'll definitely see your ideas. Park crew also has a bit of input in designing the park so we'll pass it along and we'll see what we can do.

I would REALLLLY like a nice smallish step up and or stepover to learn stuff on. Really just a nice floaty low consequence jump to try new stuff on.

that is all I ask.

yeah true. so then a beginners section? it just really bothers me that that section for the greater part of the season is completely useless.

That's where the only jump we had used to be, but that was a good 6 years ago if not more. One of the big things about putting stuff in random spots like that is insurance. One of the big things is that the park needs to have boundaries, which is why it's roped off, and why park crew has to go set it up back up when you little punks duck under it and pull it down...

hm..we have an obvious newcomer to the perfect north park discussions. park crew is only aloud to do so many things and go so far. feel free to suggest more things but regulate them to inside the parks we have, unless its about pfc. then we have a little more free reign over things.

Aight. I've been skiin at pns for years now, it hasent been till last year i started in the park. So i wouldn't really know much about what they can and can't do. Thanks for informing me tho guys.

Not a lot of people do... It blew my mind the things that can and cant be done when I started on park crew, and I have been around a couple years, nothing like bill or scharff tho haha.
But you did point out the one key thing that keeps our park better than everyone elses...... It was your first year and everyone was chill.

Oh and btw, this thread title is stupid..... I urge everyone to go to mad river or anywhere else in our part of the midwest if you have never been away from perfects....... we have it sooooooooo good.

First thing is first, Does it take everyone's little text box to type forever to load? Mine takes a long time, and yet the ads load no prob. Pain in the butt.

But Thanks to all those who have pumped up the PNS Park, i'm grateful and hope that we never disappoint. I don't doubt that MRM will have a decent park this winter, which is really great for them, it has been a long time coming. However only time will tell. As far as MRM getting into Freeskier, to be honest i've looked into it and i have it from and inside source that you really have to advertise to get into the resort guide, which really just makes it an advertising section of the mag. which i'm not above paying to get PNS some good PR, in a legit mag, but the uppers don't really think it is necessary which is pretty true. The days that need to be busy are, and that is what matters to them. What matters to ME is that our park is always as good as it can be given conditions, and crowd considerations. And i think that usually it is, aside from Jam Session which i need to focus on a bit more.

The closest we ever got to being in Freeskier was me sending a letter to the editor with a few pics complaining that we weren't in the Midwest section, which they printed and we even got some cool pics of the park in there.

As far as our park stepping it up... MRM has a long way to go to get to PNS status, and i don't mean that as a jab to MRM, because i'm genuinely happy they are getting it together. What i mean is that PNS has had the same group of builders/idea men in place for YEARS, and we've had the opportunity to fine tune the PNS parks to the point where they just get better each year. MRM is starting from scratch, with the set up, the jibs, the vibe. So when we're just making ours better they are just getting theirs prepped. You see what i'm saying? So I admit that there is always room for improvement, but at PNS it is in the way of small tweeks instead of major reworks. This is only the way I see it so feel free to throw in 2 cents for sure. I'm always game for suggestions.

As for Where stuff can go and what we can build, like Billups said if we build a feature somewhere, it basically needs to be "Properly Marked" and it needs to have some sort of limited access so people can ski into the landing or side of it unknowingly. Sounds odd and hard to do but you would be surprised. If we could rope off all of that area between Center and Tuff, and make it so there was a small entry way with a decent set of signage, then we could basically make it a second park. However that is way harder than it sounds, and it would suck to have to ride all the way to the top of the red or white chair to just ride a park that was only half of the height. And management would frown highly on going up the blue and cat tracking across, so that is not an option.

We're always looking at ways to make things better so keep throwing out suggestions, and i'll try to keep you informed as to what is doable and what isn't.

Sorry for the rediculously long post, if you've even read this far.

PS did i post a list of the events for this season?

PSS Did everyone check out the New FP32.com if not you should.

Later,

Tad

And the man has spoken. Sometimes the post box can take a while, sometimes it doesn't. If it takes a while I just reload it and its usually good. And as far as I remember you haven't posted an events schedule yet.

Turning off Fancy GUI editor thing makes it load super quick

But as for P North park...It is dope and amazing and I am going to miss such a legit park and legit jumps for the midwest since supposedly Big Sky is not going to have their main park this year :(((.

But as for suggestions for P norths park I would love to see a little medium step over or step up (like Evan said) that is like 15-20 feet and very low risk for injuries so you could just try new tricks on their...and if there is a middle jump this year please make it able to clear because most of the time it seems like it just sits there and gets in the way.

Also I would looooove to see that big ass steal rail (the one always at the top of mini) set up at the end of audition like it was in the beginning of the season because that was such a fun feature.

Oh and save all the crazy awesome park shit for December when I am back! :)

sorry for the story

i thought everything was cool last year, maybe just shapeing up some of the edges of the jumps and making em look better like they have them during the big air, as well as you know putting in some new rails and stuff

Cutting the lips for the jumps like we did for the big air literally took us all night. So I wouldn't expect them to be like that too often.

i dont know if this would work out but instead of a three jump line which is hard to clear maybe the normal small ones up top and the big one on skiers left at the bottom and a step up/over/whatever jump or maybe a hip pr something a little above the big jump on skiers right. just a suggestion but i honestly dont hit the middle jump much because it kills speed for the bottom ones

Well... from what i've read (but i could be wrong) step up jumps are fun but can be dangerous. Also that step downs are easier to maintain and are much safer. i could be wrong. but i think either a step up or down could be a major feature for pns. But again, i could be wrong.

You have it backwards. Step overs/ups are generally less impact, safer features, while step downs are higher impact because you're falling from a higher distance.

In regards to PNS stepping up our game... ish. I just finished the newhttp://www.perfectnorthparks.com Here you will find a few blogs of interest, which should help you know what is happening in the parks at PNS. Cruise through check it out, tell me what you think. You can also go to the Forum on there for more details.
