I don't really find much difference between skis, I hardly believe that if I buy Troublemakers or Public Enemies or Armadas that my skiing is going be better or worse. When you are good you are good, no matter what skis you ride. If you suck, you will suck on K2s, Dynastars, Armadas, Lines, Solomons or anyother ski, it makes no difference in the grand scheme of things.

I've ridden ultra soft and light Line skis, super stiff and heavy Heads, Armadas and K2s too. The only difference I really found was the mounting position. I like my skis center mounted. As far as the rest, it didn't make much difference between each ski, even though some were VERY different from each other. Once you start skiing, you will forget which ski you even have on until you look down.

I'm probably better on my super old like.. 1970s dynastar fiberglass skis than on my 1260s... but the dynastars lack stuff like... back tip... and... width... and... shapeage.......

so yeah, i use my 1260s.

yeah i know what you mean, but one thing that really matters to me is pop, i think it makes a big difference in pipe...also how they handle on landings..but other than that they're mostly a like

for me skis made a big difference, i used to ride elan twintips(worst ski ever) and i got the dynastars and they make such a big difference

i find that turn radius makes a differences, i demoed the 1080's and the turned quickly, then went on the scratch fs and they were kinda slow. i went with the scratch fs cause i don't want my skis to delaminate, but yeah u'll eventualy get used to a different ski after a while

i think the lengh of a ski has a big effect. 165s are going to be a lot easier to use than 210s.

 
I think you've got a point to a certain extent but skis do make a difference sometimes. I mean if you can throw a bio 7, I'm sure you could do it whether your're on line snowblades or Seth Pistols. I do think that skis can help you be at the top of your game or help you progress. Everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for the other. I'm personally glad that I have a choice.

I should mention that all the skis I've ever used have been within 3cm of each other in length, so that hasn't been an issue. Turn radius feels different for about 10 minutes, then you forget all about it.

i ride 1260's and i find nothing wrong with em, i have demoed a couple other skis and the only reason i would switch is to go a bit stiffer so i have i bit more control at higher speed, the 1260's arn't too bad for it, but they are made pretty much as a park ski .

 
I agree with cko. while it doesnt make a big difference, if you have a choice, buy a ski a ski that you fits you the best.

if i remember right, I think it was Philou that had all his ski shit lost by an airline and placed, if not won at a major pipe comp wearing rear entry boots and using borrowed skis.

skis do make a difference, though it may only be a psychological difference. If you think ski brand X will make you better then it will. If you think you ski better with a blue sock, and a red sock on each foot, then it helps. though I totally understand what you guys are saying about teh ability of the skis to make you better.

if it's a center mounted (or close to) equal tipped ski...I'd never tell the difference...but ther was a big difference when I went from enemys to scratches...totally different, I could ski switch and spin quicker, but that was about it...I have a friend that always bitches about responsive ness and 'these skis are too stiff or too flexy' but I couldn't tell the difference
