People who boost their self esteem by wearing expensive clothing

i just dont understand it. Like if i had a 400 dollar shirt i dont understand how that is supposed to make me more confident even if i payed for it with my own money. I know alot of girls like this, i dont understand how they get confidence from wearing expensive stuff could someone please explain this to me?

haha really, i would think if people had more money left over thus feeling more financially stable and not concered about running out of money...would boost self esteem

im a jean whore... i love designer jeans because they fit me perfectly. i have alot of nice clothes, not because they make me more confident, but because i like quality and comfort. i usually just rock nice jeans, my moccasins, and a comfy ass cashmere sweater.

i have shitty clothes too for when i dont feel like looking presentable.

*putting on flame suit*

ahem. the same way half of the kids on NS think they're hot shit because they own $200 shoes.

or the same way somebody who owns a Lambo thinks they're hotter shit than somebody who owns a Hyundai.

get money, spend money, show it off.

it may not be your style, but don't hate on somebody else just because they have enough cash to spend on clothes.

trust me i could afford some nasty clothes,

but cars and cloths are different. if i want a sick porsche instead of a hyundai that is a real difference

but if i want a nice blue button up shirt from say, gap for 50 bucks, or a nice blue shirt from gucci or something for 500 bucks, you cant see the difference, and the gap shirt might even be better made for all you know. Clothes are clothes, id rather wear cheap shit that fit me well and looked good than buy designer stuff just cause its designer

girls who would rather be with men with money than poor men are cunts?

i'm sure a lot of hobos have a better personality than zach efron, but i'm also sure a lot of those hobos smell like piss. personailty is never the deciding factor in a relationship, no matter what anybody tells you.

sooooo true, but they are hott ass cunts though... daddys girls. ive landed a few, all looks no brains. and usually end up being psychopaths.

I hate wearing any type of dress clothes I feel awkward. But get use to it pretty much every office requires business casual. I actually look forward to wearing jeans on Friday fuck my life.

Hey, when people are getting into a legit relationship most people will base it off other things than clothes, I'm sure you do to...hopefully.

I was saying cunts that base everything soley on clothing are well, cunts.

the thing is,, some people who dont have alot of money will spend all of their money on designer shit to impress the ladies and pretend their rich which is especially pathetic in my opinion

there's a reason designer clothes sell for so much. i can guarantee you your gap shirt is shit compared to a designer brand. let's see the disadvantages of buying clothes from wal-mart:

-factory-made or made buy 4 year old chinese girls

-thread count

-material that could be a substitute for gore-tex

the list goes on. most people aren't stupid enough to buy something just because of the name, unless it's a poser-brand like A&F or American Eagle.

Thats what the Mexicans from Carbondale Colorado do. They have hella sick clothes, and like Escalades but then you see them pull up to the food bank and you are like wtf. Those are the cunt ass motheruckers that are abusing the system. See aspendukes, I agree, some people abuse the system : )

this is true. especially in high school girls date the good looking guys with the expensive clothes. sometimes i buy nice clothes like an armada hoodie but I also only have 1 pair of jeans and my shoes were $40. I'll admit sometimes I can be a shallow person and wish I could date a hot ass cunt for a few weeks then dump her.

What you said has a grain of truth in it. The part that a lot of times the biggest difference in the look between two brands of clothes is the logo is somewhat accurate. But expensive clothes, for the most part are higher quality than less expensive clothes. That's why they're more expensive (the brand does have a lot to do with it though)

I don't see the problem with wearing really nice clothes. How do you know that it's to boost self esteem also? What if they just like the fit and style of expensive clothes? People also often dress very nicely because of their job. You look a lot more professional in a designer suit than in gap clothes.

Agreed. Very much so. Especially about the gore-tex, all that shit as zumiez is garbage.

i have found though that coats and shit actually have a technical advantage for being more expensive. A shirt that costs $300 however, DOES NOT!

I mean it will be better than almost all shirts probably but nowhere near $280 better (assuming a normal shirt costs $20).

to Marshall. - i agree, anyone who can found a relationship on material objects alone should be shot.

to Manbearpig.. - i agree, anyone who would rather own a J. Lindeberg belt simply for the looks, than something useful like a working computer, should be shot.

Agreed, add Hollister to that list while you're at it.

I can respect people who buy designer clothes, thats their choice to make. Just as long as they're using their own money to buy it.

I think we are on the same page them K-rob, checked your karma too and I must have already raised it.

Everybody wants to look rich, but if you look carefully you can tell who is a poser and who isn't. I mean lots of people can look rich but once you see their house or sometimes car you will know. I mean sometimes people spent tons on a car but live in a trailer park....generally these are the people with the huge trucks though.

I have multiple pairs of expensive shoes. I like the look of the shoe, the colors, the creativity, the materials. I'm kind of a sneaker head. I'd rather sport something beautiful on my feet than a hideous pair of shoes. I also like the fact that they are limited, they stand out, not everyone else has them. There not played, you can't get em at footlocker.

I like nice clothes too. Like not gucci sweaters that go for hundreds of dollars. But I have spent $40 on a shirt or hat. You pay for what you get. A sick limited design and great materials.

How could you not want to wear something nice? Its not like I feel that I am better than someone wearing regular shoes or clothes, its just that I like wearing nicer shit.

i just have the 5 for $20 shirts at footlocker

i hate paying extra to help companies adverties and "look cool" or trendy

See thats legit. Because you do get the bang for your buck. You pay more gold coins for a better quality/cooler looking product. and it's money well spent in my view because a $40 shirt is probably twice as good as a $20 shirt all things considered. A $300 shirt however, is excessive unless you have ungodly amounts of money, or like to buy stuff for the sake of it being expensive.

Hmm, maybe they just buy it for the sake of it being expensive.

i read your other post as well by the way, and i do believe we are on the same page here.

of course, an extra $280 for a shirt is not really worth it, unless you really need to stand out. but in the cases of most $300 shirts, you are not just paying for the fact that it is designer. most of these companies are paying a high price for the materials and labour put into making their clothes, and that price factors into what you are paying. big companies like the FCUK can lower their prices once they are making a large enough profit to do so. six years ago, a high-quality FCUK shirt would cost about $80. now, you can buy the same quality shirt for $40. usually, once the company has turned a large enough profit to consistently make their high-quality products without worrying about the cost, they will lower their prices. examples of companies that refuse to lower their prices even though they are making enough money to do so are Diesel, A&F, Hollister, American Eagle, etc. i don't think anybody should be buying from these companies because they are taking advantage of their customers and pocketing more money than they are putting back into their work.

i think i've explained myself well enough not to post again in this thread.

this is what is called "hood rich"

Also, Gucci and all that all bull shit is cheap as fuck, its all made by 3rd world countries

you make it sound like designer company's dont make their shit in factory's. Like im not saying the quality is the same because it obviously is not but still the reason there is a $200 difference in these shirts isnt the quality, its the name. honestly. if anything it should be a $20 difference no more. i mean you make it sound like Gap shirts are mad eout of lint( if thats possible) and gucci shirts are made out of some fire repellent, bullet proof ,never rinkle, stain proof shit.

i mean they do use a better material, stitche's are better, higer thread count etc... but still like if you look at a designer and a cheaper brand sometime's you actually cant tell the difference.

if you were to take an old navy shirt and put Dolce and Gabanna on it i bet people would still pay $120 for it.

i'm sorry to post again, but some people can spot fakes. D&G is a lot higher quality than Old Navy, and anybody who knows the difference will spot it. your statement might be better suited as having D&G replaced with American Eagle or Lacoste. i doubt D&G will ever stoop to Old Navy quality. also, there is a difference between silk clothes that are handmade in detail as opposed to polyester clothes that are machine-made without any attention to detail. sure, they're made in factories, but like i said, you won't find any four-year-old Chinese girls making FCUK shirts.

just to clear things up, i'm defending the designer industry because i often buy designer shirts and jackets. i live the kind of life where cheaper products seem to simply fall apart after a few weeks of wearing them. i used to spend a lot of money replacing cheap clothes over and over again, until i started buying expensive clothes and realized it would actually cost me less. i don't buy very expensive jeans though, because i would probably end up tearing them to shreds in less than a week, i'd rather buy some cheaper jeans from Bluenotes or something and tear them apart without spending a lot of money.

the best is dressing like a dirt bag but being rich. that way you only find the girls that like you for who you are. then when you tell them you got some cash their eyes roll in the back of their heads like slot machines.

AND SOME PEOPLE JUST STEAL THAT SHIT SON AND YOU THINK THEY'RE SOME KINDA POSER CUZ THEY AINT RICH LIKE YOU BUT REALLY THEY JUST HARD

I don't get whats with the hate on designer clothing???I'm wearing a JL belt that I've had for two years, worn every day, and it still looks sick you can barely tell, thats worth the $$Yeah buying/wearing nice clothing can make you feel good about yourself, and yeah I'd spend an extra 20 or 30 on a sweater because it has a logo, but its not like that makes me a bad person, or really all that shallow.Another reason to spend that extra cash on a designer brand is that they fit and feel better, making you look and feel better; look good, feel good. I have one nice dress shirt from Zegna that I bought with some bday money, and a couple banana republic dress shirts about a third of the price, and I can see and feel the difference between them (its huge.) Thats what you get with the extra money, you get "woven in italy" not "made in china" the shit don't fall apart so fast, you get noticed, and you feel proud (well if you buy it with your own scrill, thats what I do)

the stuff i wear isn't super expensive.( i don't own an article of clothing over 60 bucks) but anyway i wear it cause i like to present myself in a nice manner, whether it be to impress myself or someone else. people take u far more serious if you show some self resepect.

well i didnt mean fake like say if dolce and gabanna was to take an old navy shirt and put there logo on it themselv's. but yea its just an example im not actually suggesting that they would ever go that low but i still think people would buy it. and yes i do agree with the part about the silk and hand made stuff because that shit is actuall quality but still some designers make t-shirts and they all still come from china and shit. What im saying is for lots of things it simply come's down to one thing and one thing only, brand name, and thats what determine's the price. but other things yea quality is actually huge im not doubting that like jackets would be a big thing, a nice armani leather jacket is going to last a fuck load longer( and look better) than something from Gap.

Im kinda right in the middle of this argument, like i do have the money to wear designer clothes( like im not loaded but if i were to give up a couple things i could) but i choose not to. Do i have some designer clothes, yes, do i also wear cheaper non designer brands, yes. I basically wear what i like. I cant justify paying over $25 for a t-shirt, but thats just me( cheap) im basically a huge bargain hunter. My friends give me shit for it but i dont care. For example i think ed hardy shit is sick but i would never pay $100 for a t-shirt, on my usuall budget $100 would buy me like 7 shirts.

my god. reading this thread made me feel dumber. i cannot believe how deep this thread is over just fucking clothes! give it a rest. thread count! who gives a shit about that. you guys should take your conversation over to some queer designer site? this is a skiing site fyi

i can see what your saying but whenever you have this many memeber on a forum talking about something( no matter how small of a topic) it always turns into a heated debate. But when you thnk of it the initial post kind of encouraged it i mean obviously the guys who wear designer/ expensive clothe's are going to take offence.

and this is the non-ski gabber.

personally, i like deals way better, i got 3 LRG sweatshirts for 30 bucks and i love them because its so like i just beat the system type shit, if i find something i like, ill buy it off ebay for cheaper, like i got me some faking apes but no one would know that theyre not bapes

I do see your point, and yes debates do get heated but i just thought there were better things to worry about other than the types of clothes...

yes this is the non-ski gabber, there are better things to talk about other than designer clothes, but that is just me

yo dont hate on hyundai- the genysis is such a fcking good car- we just ordered the v8 version- only car with the same sound system as the rolls royce- fucking fast as shit- rapes every porsche until the carrera s

i like nice cloths, but I don't pay a lot. I get most my shits at tj maxx, jeans at old navy, hoodies that go on sale and are on SAC and WM, and got a couple pairs of nikes for $70 each. I think spending any more doesn't look much nicer, I have some dope stuff and it was pretty cheap.

I wanna see what JD has to say, ahahahaha
