people need to stop trying to remake Beatles songs

i just saw people singing them on american idol and it was aweful cause they tried to change the songs

and across the universe WAS NOT a good movie

the Beatles were just too perfect to try and remake anything

sorry for the rant

yeah i liked across the universe, it was a good tribute, and i mean those songs have been the same for a long time, why not try and remake a classic? the original still exists.

The Beatles are one of a kind and you can't remake something that amazing but I haven't seen Across the Universe but I heard its good movie

first off i can totally agree with this... I saw that American Idol... man they hacked the shit out of those songs, it was depressing to see amazing songs go down like that. But I did like the movie Across the Universe, I thought they did a decent job of remaking the Beatles songs.

remaking a beatles song doesn't discredit the original it just shows respect. Why not make a movie honoring the work the beatles did? its not like most people will listen to the across the universe version of the songs, but its cool to see their vision and tribute

the idol songs on the other hand were quite pathetic and i did not approve of that, those aren't really remakes. those contestants have to sing the beatles whether or not they like the music or have even heard it before so its not really a tribute jsut an excercise in performance

No. COVERING a beatles' song is showing it respect. REMAKING it is a cheap attempt to cash in on an already written song with an already composed melody by changing the melody and keeping the words. or vice versa.

yah this guy is wrong. beatles are who they are and noone canredo whayt they did. its more like DISRESPECT
and props to whomever posted this thread cuz ive been arguing this point to many across the universe fans for many many moons. it sucked. i didnt even see the movie and it still sucked. they should of used REAL beatles songs if they wanted it to be good.
