Peak Skis

Not sure why the diss.

Is it the graphics?

Is it Bode?

And what's with the cutout disc to reduce weight? How much could that reduce?

Widest ski is only 110, I note that the website doesn't have any actual specs information as to weight or anything like that yet. Could be really good, you never know since I'm sure Bode Miller knows some stuff about skiing and building skis, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Others here don't like it because it doesn't look like a vishnu or an on3p, and is founded by a racer

I don't like it because it doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table design wise

We are not the same

Also didn't Bode already have a ski company called Crosson lol what happened to that

Real shit these skis look okay, nothing amazing but nothing terrible, but it's not what skiing needs

Yeah and they’re all front siders, apparently. A 110 frontside ski? Wtf.

He was a rider for them and, I think, an investor. He also was associated with Bomber skis and maybe a few others. Basically he’ll plaster his name on anything for a few $$$. Crosson always was weird to me. Their platform just doesn’t make sense to me. Who they sponsor and what their skis are. Plus, I’ve never seen any in person. Always kinda felt like a money laundering operation to me lmao

I usually like small companies but Peaks is not exciting at all.

The vibe I got from Crosson is a few trust fund kids or just one kid wanted a ski company and got all the best machines to do so. But lacked marketing and creativity, remember reading a review for one of the skis and the end of the review was like this ski missed all the marks.

If you're gonna launch a ski brand in 2022, at least do something unique or interesting. These couldn't be more generic and bland if they tried.

Literally looks like they typed in "skis" on Alibaba and slapped a $900 price tag on them.

This pretty much encompasses most start up ski companies these days. Either a shit load of money and spend it all on machines but no knowledge of how to build a good ski, or just find a factory in China to build their soulless uninspired designs.

Then there is the subset of hiring an OEM to build a few pairs of a ski they used to make for another company and pretend you are a brand.

I am curious to see where these are being made. Are they in some shitter china factory, or some high quality euro joint.

I read it was a “limited access” factory in Montana. I get a feeling they’re going after Yellowstone and Big Sky clientele

Yeah I think they were a bunch of aerospace engineers. They had so many options for base too like who tf knows what they want. I read that review too. It looks like Bobby is off their team now. Their insta is awful btw

Technically companies can have everything made overseas, complete assembly here, and tag it Made in America

Yes, auto manufacturers do that but might be more work than it’s worth to do that for skis

The cutout was designed by bode himself to blast cocaine out of on the go. Its more of a recessed mini tray vs a cutout.

Might just have to be a little final step...jes saying

yeah basically this is the issue with this company. there is no reason for most skiers to care about it.

is it just me or does action sports in general have a problem with people making the same shit over and over?

come on dude you have to admit that's an amazing and clever brand name, "Peak." i wonder how he even thought of that

lmao yeah it's a pretty mid name and generally I wish brands would avoid names whose spelling is unclear and has a corny homophone, in this case "peek". And the full name sounds like you're saying "peeksies" or something ???

Despite only having taken a few industrial design courses, I notice so many products and brands in action sports that blatantly go against basic design principles. Feels like people don't step back and think and revise their visions before they try and realize them

this is like 3rd ski brand by bode in the past 4 years. I ain't buying them.

bode will be on a new brand by next season

If you wanna hear him talk about these skis, he was on the latest Gear 30 podcast. He gives more info about them.

Holy shit they sound like the most unoriginal and uninspired skis on the market. Even Bode sounds unenthusiastic about them.

Just listened to the podcast, and my most interesting takeaways from the whole thing were his take on boots and how apart from Full Tilt, the designs are pretty antiquated there. He clearly knows a shit ton about skis, skiing, building skis, and the like, and maybe this project will be something where he finally has true control over the product. I also found it neat to see how he talked about the gear Atomic athletes were on during the Olympics contributed to them not doing quite as well. I think it was neat how he talked about how he just was not as technically sound as other racers which might give him an edge in designing skis for the general populace compared to someone with perfect technique. I'd be lying if i said I wasn't curious about trying a pair of the 98 or 104 on groomers.
