PE edges

today after doing a rail i decided i hadn't really looked at my edges yet to see if they were holding up. What i found was very dissapointing. it was very worn down and carcked in one spot. I was told when i bought them they had the strongest edges and were practically bombproof. So after all the good reviews here's one that's different, and not only because my edge is cracked but also because i find they're extremely stiff, heavy, and has the weakest top sheet i've ever seen. My top sheet looks like it'd been through a war, and lost. I know i'm going to get alot of post disagreeing with me but i'm just saying what my experience with the PE is.

here is some food for thought... you are banging metal against metal all day every day, eventualy Its gonna break. Every ski will... a crack in the edge isn't a big deal... its just a crack in the edge, its not effecting the proformance for anything you are doing, unless you are racing world cup downhill on your PE's and every last 100th of a second makes all the differnce in the world, but somehow I don't think thats the case. If the edge starts to pull out entirely, take it to a shop and have them do an edge replacement.

or stop sliding rails.

no shit, but they're new this season and i haven't done all that many rails, and according to a shit load of people they're the strongest ski out there. My old saloman 720's were a hell of alot stronger and cheaper. And if ski companies make a park designed ski shouldn't they warranty any damage cause from a park, such as rails, which make up a good percentage of most parks.

fact of the matter is: you can still ski on your skis just fine.

the edges on my PEs have broken too but it does not matter. some of those bullets have fallen out also but i could care less as long as the skis are skiable

Salomon skis are terrible as far as durability goes, just ripped the fuck out of that edge. PE's do have thicker edges, all edges will get cracked (read metal to metal contact causing it to heat up a lot than hitting the cold snow, thus cracking it, just like heating up glass and then running it under water will do the same thing).

Last and not least: The skis flex is money, sali jib sticks are too flexy for many people, especially good riders who demand stiffer skis that can hold an edge and keep you from washing out. If you dont like the flex, thats personal opinion, I think I speak for a lot of more advanced riders that like stiffer skis, and the PE isnt even that stiff really.
