Pc or a mac? laptop

someone said that PCs get outdated faster than Macs.

here is why. you have hundreds of companies making thousands of parts for PCs all of them interchangeable and all competing against each other.

a couple of months ago Nvidia anounced the Geforce 8 series (about 2 times more powerful than the graphics card in the PS3)

a week later 4 models of that card were available to buy. I could have bought it the day it came out and have it in my computer the day those cards were released.

same with processors, ram, blue ray drives, HD-DVD drives and so forth, I can buy those components and have them in my case the same day.

Mac on the other hand a new component comes out PC users adopt it, then another product comes out pc users adopt it until one day Steve Jobs comes on stage and anounces to the world you guys can now buy a mac with the same technology that windows users have been able to use for the past 8 or 9 months.

PCs have new products coming out every day Mac gives you a new upgrade on the macs every 6 or so months

um.. you dont pay for updates with Mac OS X.. You get 10.4.1,2,3,4 etc. you pay for an UPGRADE same as going from windows xp to vista. the fact that apple called each os release 10.something may be bad marketing on their part but you are getting an upgraded os.

What do you mean they would have to go to system 11 to be more secure(do you mean x11 like the developers tools)?? Leopard encorporates many new security features. look it up. And what do you guys mean when you say not as secure? OS X still doesn't have to deal with viruses/adware/malware/spyware

And I honestly don't see why this debate is still going on? Mac's can run windows now... best of both worlds.

The only arguement left is price. Ah not so lets do a little comparison on a similar config:

APPLE MacBook Pro

2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB

160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm

SuperDrive 8x (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

MacBook Pro 17-inch Widescreen Display

Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English

Accessory Kit

Price:$2799USD ($2239USD w/ADC)

Nearly an identical spec and the apple is cheaper (much cheaper if you include the ADC). This also doesn't take into account the sheer beauty of the Mac. I don't understand why anyone would buy a different high end notebook? The only PC I can see why anyone (including myself) would be would be a gaming desktop.

For the upgrades I mean that their are some upgrades but its still the same operating system OSX their is no Kernel change. it still has the same old way of using processor data and using the components, just a couple extra features which is just an OS upgrade not a whole new operating system.

as for the price diffenrence you are right similarily configured Dell and Mac setups have Macs beating Dell on price but those are similar products not identical products

but im sure that if Dell had gone with the slower ATI X1600 instead of the geforce 7900GS and had gone with the cheaper screen that displays a resolution of 1680 x 1050(the one apple uses) instead of the one that runs at 1920 x 1200 (also has more accurate color) then they could have saved the price difference

I agree with the best of both worlds and would pick a Macbook pro over any other notebook just because it runs Mac, Linux and Windows on the same machine.

but for desktop computers PC is still king its got more performance and more upgradde options.if apple makes a quad processor system a week later that quad processor is no longer the best and PC regains the edge on performance for the next few months until apple decides to sell that proccessor with their machines
