PC Opening Day - Update!

Hey, I posted it in the old thread, then decided it needs its own. I was just up getting my pass and spoke to a park guy.

Opening with : Two 30 ft jumps - 3 down rails - 8 ball bonk

"and that is only half, we have surprises for you guys and 11 jibs total" - PC park dude.

This is so ridiculous that they could get such a sick park up for us on opening day. When they said they'd have 2 jumps I was expecting something similar to those little ones on homerun last year, but we've got THIRTYS YEEAAH.

They reealllly need to replace the two huge fat boxes at the bottom with legit features and add a jump to the step up box and the fat tube. Other than that, sooo fun, if pc just fixes a couple things it will be cash.

Today was my first time ever going to Park City and I had such a blast. Totally blows Brighton out of the water hahah. I agree with eheath that there needs to be a small jump thing for the tube.

There is nothing wrong with a FEW features without lips onto them, but it would be nice to have some nice flat boxes/rails right now while the season is early imo

the tube was so damn ill with no jump...learn to ollie people.

also a note to everyone...stop going to damn slow through the line of jibs, and stop training so close to people you don't know, and stop crowding after the second jump.

other than the occasional flip out at gypsy snowboarders for those reasons, today was amazing

There is nothing wrong with a few ollie on features, but it is pretty hard to 270 or 450 onto something that is just sitting on top of the snow with no lip. You have to do different tricks onto ollie on features for sure, and you can have a lot of fun on them, but having 2 ollie on flat features and no lip-on flat features was somewhat of a bummer.

The jumps more than made up for the lack of rail variety though.

use your mind..get creative...there were 3 down bars that were more than easy enough to 270 onto..and if you have the balls for it i'm sure easy enough to 450 on...the fact that they had rails/jibs with and w/o lips was wayy cool..it gave a good variety of both...no need really to complain the least bit about it..from my understanding this has been the best pc opening in years...think about the kids back in the midwest/ec who are still dreaming about just seeing snow because the lows there are still in the 40s....

back to the original quote..in simplified terms...you were bummed that you were skiing lift accessible terrain that had jibs on it? come on...be thankful that you could ski down the damn hill and catch a chair back up!..opening day and the complaints are already coming in...

Shit was real fun for a first day. Definitely still rusty, but so fun to be out there. I had trouble with speed for the jumps, but just need to actually wax the skis tonight and they will be golden!

well..you don't have to be a jerk about it :(

but in all seriousness, you make some good points. I think I am just at the point where I hope that every box in every park is set up Brighton style later in the year. Better to voice our opinion now so that dudes know what we want and don't want when all 3 parks start getting serviced.

The thing is,

with a lip you can do everything you can do without a lip, plus more.

without a lip you can't do anything that you can't do without a lip, but a lot less.

i believe the original argument was guided toward the creativity factor. no lip is something new...and creative. some tricks are hindered while others are assisted eh?

not trying to sound like a jerk.. it's that I just moved from the midwest to out here and couldn't be more stoked and the thing is is that todays opening park is better than our park back home is all year long and better than it has ever been...so when I hear small negative things about days like today, it annoys the hell out of me..the fact that we had someone bust there ass for us so we can ride is a pretty satisfying thought to me...regardless of how they set it up

they could definitely use a lip on the step-up box, but the tube at the end is sick the way it is :)

awesome park for opening day!!

The fact brighton does it is indisputable evidence that it is a bad idea. If it weren't for every other feature being perfect I would be concerned, but clearly they just want to mix it up since every other lip was dope.

I hate people who complain. Park City has stepped it up so much since last year, and its was amazing. So THANKS ALOT guys. I had a great time.

I think that after so much complaining last year so many people are confusing complaining and criticism.

Complaining and constructive criticism are completely different.

Constructive Criticism uses no demeaning language, aims to improve behavior, is genuine (without prejudice), helps the criticized to identify their weaknesses and improve upon them, and most importantly lets them chose if they want to accept your criticism or not.

As long as I am mentioning what I don't like and giving input as to

what I do like, it is not complaining, but rather constructive

criticism. Park City can take my criticism and make sure that there aren't too

many features without lips in future parks, or they can ignore my

constructive thoughts and continue doing what they are doing.

It is important that we give feedback to Jeremy so that he knows what we do and don't like so that he can tailor his creativity to our needs.

On the other hand, go look at the threads last year where 12 year old kids were swearing (demeaning language) and criticizing Jim and the Park Crew (made it personal), rather than giving suggestions just talked about how much better other parks were. That was inappropriate.

And in all honesty I don't know why people are acting like last years opening day park was so horrible, it was a great opening day rail line with actually more variety than we have right now. I do like the 2 jumps more than what they had last year, but you don't have to pretend like last year was horrible.

I am okay with anyone in here agreeing or disagreeing with me, but I don't know why I am being condemned for expressing my opinion courteously.

Best Opening Weekend I've had in the 3 years I've lived here and better than any opening weekend back east so I guess best opening weekend ever so far. Thanks PC, keep up the good work. Today was especially fun because of 1/2 the crowd of yesterday and so many more successful laps in the park.

I thought it was a hoot, every thing was set up amazingly well considering there was an inch maybe 2 inches under the chair, urban rails were all perfect, actually had down landings, overall I think the whole park is nearly as good as Pick was through most of last year, all it needs is a 35-40 table and the big picnic table and it would be way better than pick was last year. Keep up the good work guys. as for the no lips, jumping higher helps the fat kids get skinny from jumping exercises someone please think of the children!

I heard they changed a bunch of stuff up today.

F-U-F box in place of the two flat boxes.

Wide Dance Floor box..without a lip onto it..which sounds dope

long picnic table

long flat box with round coping

jump

jump

round down rail or down box

rectangular down rail

death star

hitching post

small jump or dub kink box

small jump or wide box sans lip

slight up box or round tube sans lip

wide box or picnic table

Two thumbs up! For the park crew and a new and improved jib line today! A+++.... .. I couldn't be more stoked. Well some legit snowfall would help but yeah PC is killing it!!!

So stoked on the new setups! The next dope thing would be a long flat rail or something, or maybe a cbox. Other than that, shit is amazing. Speed was a little slow today but it was due to the fresh snow.
