PBP Reasons is outstanding

I just watched Reasons for the first time and this is a truly outstanding movie. I think this is the first movie that PBP has put out since Session 1242 that is groundbreaking and worthy of the movie of the year title. I'm stoked that PBP has brought it back and put out an amazing vid after a few years of some less than stellar releases. Amazing movie......everyone should get it, or at least see it
 
I disagree, it was good but i feel like they tried way too hard. I closing shot was a fucking shot people had seen 1533562363 times and there wasn't any special editing/filming (other than andreas obviously) and majority of the music wasn't appealing. Just another pbp movie though.
 
I loved it too, so did the friends i went to see it with. a lot of people hate on it, saying they've seen it before, but i disagree.
 
The movie was pretty dope, they gave me a tall tee that says reasons and pbp and the sponsors.
 
I thought some parts were really good. overall, its was good, but nothing to like go crazy about, but i liked it. usually i'd elaborate on my basis, but... i'll save that for a full review.
 
Dumonts record breaking quarter pipe, i really like the movie, there were some points i didn't like listening to the pros but the skiing really made up for it.
 
how can you say it was run of the mill pbp, there was interviews, different flow, sweet shots, different types of music, i thought it was a huge improvemnt from what they had been selling.
 
oh god i can see it coming. this is about to turn into another hate thread and everybody is gonna voice their opinion on what ski movie they think is the best.
 
reasons was the first movie I bought this year (didn't pre order any) I havn't seen all of them yet.. but reasons is one of my fav.
 
I just got my copy today and I watched it 2 times already. In my opinion it was one of the best ski videos I've seen. I don't think I've ever seen more follow cam and para gliding shots in one place then in this movie. Some of the shots they took in reasons were mind blowing.

I do agree about the segment with Simon not being the best choice for an ending segment though. I was a little disappointed there but it's still a sweet movie.

...but that's just my opinion
 
Awesome awesome movie, best PBP I've seen in a while (last one I really liked was War, also 1242 of course, definitely rate Reasons above War). The production value was really high, there were lots of good interviews that were not cheesy like many voiceovers end up being (TGR often is). The shots were great and original. The Japan segment to start was epic, really got me stoked for skiing this season, which is exactly what I want a film to do.

I thought some of the music was awesome, but other stuff not as much.

Overall highly recommend it. Turbo is also awesome.
 
I think people who have been following poorboyz since the beginning with degenerates and "13" will really appreciate it. It really has this full circle kinda vibe to it......with Douglas, Tanner, Pep and Abma
 
Johhny is the man , always . but i disagree , I may have been drunk the entire time at IF3 but I didn't fall asleep in any movie except for Reasons. It seems far too similar to every other PBP movie in the past, with a lot of footy I had already seen . i remember the soundtrack really hurt my ears too, but maybe ill watch it again when im not all fucked up
 
seems like im always qouting you on the call outs but...

the hell are you talking about no special filming? almost every single shot was sick! composition on it all was banger...a way you can tell that its so amazing? the fact that afte the movie you cant call them out on a single thing (besides music of course, but that will always be up for discussion)..and becuase you cant call them out and you feel he need to critisize in some fashion you prefer to degregate the movie by calling it nothing special? foolish....end of the matter...did any of those shots make you miss the trick in any sort of way? no...they got the shot time and again.
 
I tend to agree with mr. heath actually on this here. I thought it was a good movie, but nothing really special. I enjoyed Turbo and Journal a LOT more. I mean, obviously reasons was a sick movie with a lot of really nice shots and angles, but it just seemed similar to a couple of other poorboyz movies, there just wasn't that much other than a few REALLY banger shots that caught your attention.
 
loved the movie hated that it ended with dumont

andreas, the hunting yeti crew and tim's segments would have been way better to end on

and i wish tanners seggie would have been longer as well as JPs

but sick movie non the less

 
I watched it today.. it was decent.. that's really all there is to say about it.

The newschoolers commercial in it was hilarious though, loved every minute of it, because I understood all of it.. "faunt got bigger" haha!
 
yeah the commercial was awesome and i was glad they put the small girl tap in it plus it made you feel like you were part of something
 
Well henie of course the filming wasnt bad, they obviously know how to film and got everything i just fee like other companies are doing more, for example level 1, so many cranes and dollys and cables. They just seem like they just set up tripods and filmed it. I guess its all up for discussion though, id have to watch it more carefully next time to peep composition etc but from first impression the filming (other than andreas' bro) didnt stand out to me.
 
far better than yeah dude...but still not really all that great. i really enjoyed sammy's, andreas', and tim durtschi's part. although i felt while i was watching it that the movie was going to end with tim, and it kind of threw me off a little.
 
i thought it was a pretty darn good ski film.

the thing i dont understand is how people say its just another run of the mill pbp movie. it's completely different than most of their other films that i've seen from them, this one had a different flow, or to me it did.
 
tim durtschi's zero at the end of his reasons segment was unreal. and he had some crazy use of natural features. how much of it overlapped with his 44 days segment?
 
Does anyone know what the deal is with poor boyz? I know they had a problem with their warehouse but they said theyd have all the copies sent out like two weeks ago and im still waiting., Hope its sick though.
 
i love it. top 3 parts are douglas helmet cam. tim's whole part, and of course JP Auclair.
 
how many fucking times are you going to claim you were drunk at IF3? are you waiting for someone to call you a badass, or give you an e-high five? really pathetic.

anyways havent seen the movie, looks baller.

 
i have just one question, is it better than Ski Porn? because it absolutely sucked. i hate Ski Porn for some reason and i heard that Yeah Dude sucked just as bad. Is reasons actually worth buying? the teaser actually looked appealing, but so did the Ski Porn teaser. what other movie would you recommend?
 
I am in kinda the same situation, I have Yeah Dude and thought it wasn't great, I have seen parts of Ski Porn and thought it was pretty cool, which is why i bought Yeah Dude last year. Is Reasons really unique and different?
 
im pretty sure they had to end the movie with simon cuz hes a douchebag. some contractual stuff with redbull or salomon or something, he wanted the end of the movie and wouldnt give it up even though it totally kills the whole vibe.

just hit stop before simons part, durtschi's part is pretty much the best ending seggie you could have. dude kills it on the natty features
 
i liked it for the most part except for three things.

1) The soundtrack. I mean, Foo Fighters? Really?

2) The reused hunting yeti footy. I have a feeling ill like this better when i own it. But since they showed hunting yeti right before reasons at the premiere... yeah, it got repetative.

3) I agree, the ending shot was... lame. They could have done better.
 
i cant believe they had simon ending the movie. my friend lent me his copy and once simon showed up on screen i just skip scened casue hes such a fucking tool. i dont wanna watch any of his gay tricks. i wish they had more Andreas casue hes super ill. he should a had closin seggy. they also should have deleted simons part completely as well as the Xgames thing. doing so would have shortened it too a proper running time.

Notes: No simon, more andreas.

I actually just didnt like it. 48 seconds of soso urban? its almost 2010, lets get with the program here poorboyz. I know that watching pow and shit is cool, everyone (almost) likes it, including me. But come on now, do we need to see an hour and 20 minutes of it? Dumont... apparently all he did last season was come 2nd in pipe comps and erk out a world record, which is cool, but can he do anything else anymore? Not according to your footage.

Im bored. Unbore me next season pb... or just stop. please. its embarrasing.
 
So i take it you prefer Level 1 where they just set up a tripod and session the same rail for a couple days? then have one or two follow cams?

poorboyz knows whats up. jonny is the only film maker out there (who isnt a pro skier) that actually cares about building stoke and getting into the skiing mode, not just busting out some huge productions for gapers. Of the three (maybe four) big budget companies (IE MSP, TGR, PBP), poorboyz obviously kills it. Their last couple installments were a little weaker but that's because all the best skiers are doing everything by themselves now. They all have the same complex that actors get (aka thinking they can direct all their own films eventually).
