PBP is the beating heart of skiing progression in filming right now. There are other good movies, but with a hand in production with PNW, The Idea, and Yeah Dude, my 3 fav trailers so far, they're keepin shit HOT and fun.
 
No I understand you perfectly, you are an ignorant asshat. Are you telling me that ses 1242, Propaganda, Ski Porn and WAR are basically all the same movie? Everything must look like shit with your head that far up your ass.
 
ummm, theory 3 does it's own thing, PBP doesn't have that much to do with the production of the movie, that falls squarely on Jeffy, PBP does help with releasing it to a wider audience...and Iberg does his own thing, always has, always will, if you look at his older movies with PBP they were completely different than their counterpart. i never consider a theory 3 movie a poorboyz movie, and neither should you.

i think steve was reffering to how the more recent ones are very similar in editing style. i agree that 1242 is way different as were the older oness...and iberg ones. but X=ten, War and Ski Porn all seemed the same to me with new shots in each.
 
wasn't poorboyz doing the whole "JUST SKIING NO FILLER BULLSHIT!" last year with Ski Porn? seems like the same thing in Yeah Dude! but with same cheesy ass voice over instead of text. seems real ill....................................................
 
and i think this one could be different from the last 3 PBP movies since johnny d seems to have been more focused with the harnessing of wind this year than what happens on snow, meaning a fresh perspective with the same rediculous crew.
 
forward=high five but shanghai six=long story short, the syle of hihg five is a litte different from shanghai six,

1242 was still edited by Jonny D so we cant take credit away from that, War was good, Ski Porn was a bit boring, but I will give yeah dude a chance.

My personal favourites are Plehouse's flicks because they change a little bit, but still bring that artsy flair.
 
although i would rather watch a poorbozy movie any days, i have to admit that seven sunny days by msp has far superior cinemtography
 
i like the new trailer "if you like pbp movies, you know we follow a formula, the best skiers, the best locations, best shots, no filler" cut to some guy flipping a sled. hahahaha.
 
you like that? they're trying to be sarcastic, but it's true. and they only film with the "best" riders, and even that is questionable, its more like they film with whatever riders solly thinks will bring them doughstacks.

-yes, they do. it's stale and they need to mix it up and try some different stuff, different music genre, shot framing, locations anything.

-clarified above. and a pbp movie is just the top 3-6 tricks by that rider per year. its un apologetic ski porn.

"the best locations"

-questionable. $$$= good locations. what's so special? bc booters. mediocre AK peaks compared to other mov's, urban rails...meh.

"best shots"

-very questionable. HD cams? cable cams?

andreas and jp's war seg were sick, but they just bought andreas' brother's shots and jp edited his own seg. it wasn't pbp-created or driven.

i mean it's all relative. ski shots can look sick without much effort, but taking them to teh next level involves risk, craetivity and well-TRYING-claiming that your producing "the same old formula" is fucking lame. i just feel like in other action sports, the films giants are leading the charge in filming/production not lagging behind.

also-pbp editing is often weak. they should be at where mackdog was 3 years ago, not where they were 3 years ago. an "am" film by montage having better editing in inexcusable.

sorry it's so harsh, and i realize a shitload of work goes into a pbp film but its looking rediculously formulaic. some of it may be out of poor boyz' control (have to film with umptteen # of riders etc.), but htey need to chisel down the # of people they film wiht or something, and make their movies actually flow, its just disjointed segs mini-edits linked together not a movie as a whole.

everything stale now because they can't do much more with park, backcountry, or much of anything.

you can't throw a steezier nine than last year

you can't build a bigger jump that you can hit with style

you can't slay (adjective) lines than have already been bagged

you can't do much else on a rail that hasn't been dont

all this shit is played until skiers and snowboarders collaborate their efforts, and MD films all our shit. i'm not kidding either, we've been different for two long, the sports are done in the same atmosphere

its been attempted before, and fails because no one with a lot of money/power will collaborate and bring it to mainstream. you can learn a lot from a snowboarder, and it will show up with shiftys/steeziness on rails.

idk if this makes sense but you can't do much else that hasn't been done before.
 
Ski Porn is just boring, if I hadn't seen every other PBP movie since propaganda 100 times it might have seemed good, but honestly it was just the same as all the others.

Yeah Dude has got Henitiuk though so I'm definatly gonna have to see that
 
duuude what are you talking about. PBP literally set the standard in ski films. Then, last year PBP started doing crazy follow cams in Ski Porn!, plus JP's tree segment blew my mind. It wasnt so typical, how he weaved in and out of conciousness.

I dont know, Ski Porn struck me as super different. Now for YEah Dude, PBP is shooting Digital, and I saw some urban cable cams in the teaser as well...they are progressing and I'm boggled as to how you can't see that.
 
nah i just work a rediculously boring internship. so i have shitlaods of time on my hands while i try to look like i'm doiong work to philosophize about ski movs

not really the drive sucked, but the movie was good.
