Im just wondering... do most of you pay for your own skis... or did parents help you. Because i have been saving up for a long time now and i finnaly got about $500. i bought k2 fugitives for $300 on skiershop.com and i bought s912's for about $180 on ebay. Now my $500 is like gone and i need poles and new boots. So did you buy everything for did parents help out. Also i dont have a job. (This forum does really apply to people over 20 or so.)

i pay for my own stuff and im 16. a job really helped out for me

Peter: What the hell did you do?

Brian: Me? Who the hell buys a novelty fire extinguisher?

Peter: I'll tell you who. Someone who cares enough about physical comedy to put his whole family at risk.

Yeah, I buy my own stuff. And I recently totalled up my skiing expenditure over the past 3 years. I could've bought a new car.

I pay for everything that I own myself... If my parents were millionaires it would be a diffrent story. I like paying for stuff with my own hard earned money, it makes me appreciate the stuff that I own.

I bought my Darksides on eBay for 180, my p10's on proform for 100 i think, and my scratch fs's on sale for 280. Then I pretty much blew up my fs's and got rematched BC's for 50 dollars. My dad bought my boots for my birthday luckily cuz those were 450.

The boots were the only things my paretns have bought for me everything else I got on my own. Its all about working hard, and finding good deals.

since i have a job my parents dont buy me a lot of stuff, they helped me out on boots and race skis because they wanted me to get race skis and i didnt want to get them. i dont need them because im only on a high school team and i could have just used my old rossi vipers. so i spent about half for $400 boots $400 used 9x and $250 used atomic slalom skis. both the skis came with bindings so it wasnt a bad deal.

Exactly. Wait another month and ebay will be filled with crazy deals.

One shop, every year sells a brand new pair of Volkl V Pros (Karmas) super early in the season for like $350. I've found Dynastar Inspired as low as $250, TM's for $300. I sold my new PE's last year for $250...and I got them for less.

As a matter of fact I may be selling some stuff soon.

I have:

27.0 Lange Comp 100 boots (black) $??

175 Dynastar TM's w/TM bindings, dings and a couple small core shots...$??

You can make me some offers if you want, otherwise they'll probably be on ebay in a week or two.

Yeah, I'm getting used skis cause they're cheaper. They aren't used very much at all either. My boots last year were $35. I'm not spending $450 on boots that won't last me a year. Last year I got my skis(old Rossi Vipers) free, and I'm thinking I can sell them to get money for boots.

Mow lawns or something to get extra money. I've made over $300 on just 2 small lawns frome June-July.

i always buy skis by selling the ones from last year and making up the difference which really isn't more than 200 bucks, but that first pair that started this chain was begun by my parents with dynastar junior slalom shit which i sold off 2 months later

i've always bought my own stuff, get a job and buy your own stuff, i now work in a shop however and get radical deals

GO FLAMES!!

^Word, its all about the deals and buying your own stuff. If you scrubbed the money together to buy something, it always is more satisfying than someone else buying it.

i split most with my parents, if i want something like a new pair of skis i pay but if i need a new pair of boots then they pay. i am 16 and i have 2 jobs and work about 60 hours a week, so there isnt much other time in my summer, which pays off in the winter for more skiing timew

Dude, just get a job, I make enough for a new pair of skis every week. Just work during summer and then buy your stuff in the fall. That way you don't have to rely on your parents for everything.

I have spent around $18000 in the past 2 years.

That really really really sucks.

My mom got me my original pair of skis (snapped in half) and boots 5 years ago. Still use the same boots (one warranty swap for newer pair) But since then I pay for all my stuff. Last two years' season passes, last 3 pair of skis, club dues (rent for house in mammoth), and gear. I hope I will be able to get some new skis this year cause my candides are dying.

if you work at a ski shop its quite sick because your skiing costs all get cut by like a half or more, you pay half price for all your gear and even cheaper if you buy it from the companies that hook shop employees up, and you get free lift tickets at a ton of mountains, plus you make $8 an hour while doing this, which is sick, so i suggest working at a ski shop

Skis, Boots, Pass, Other lift tickets to other mountains, Poles, Goggs, all ski gear comes from my wallet. I'd be in mega debt if it weren't for a job.

My parents mainly just loan money out to me, or give me christmas presents in advance if I don't have the money to buy the ski gear that I want. I usually end up paying for all of it though, unless it's something I really need, like replacing torn pants or something. They also want me to wear a helmet, so they help me pay for that. I bought new skis at the end of the season for $179 after trading two pairs of old skis in, and that was completely my money. I also bought new wakeboard bindings for $319, which was completely my money.

I pay for my ski gear...but if something brakes or I need something for skiing that is realy super necessary and I dont have any cash, my dad would probably pay for it like for example a helmet. Oh and my dad pays for my season pass. Everything else comes from my wallet.
