Paying for music..

Who here actually pays for music that they download and why?

I know it's a little disrespectful to the artist and all but downloading it for free just the same as you buying a CD or movie and letting your friends borrow it.

I sometimes go buy albums at the record store, and sometimes i buy albums on itunes, just because its usually a really sick artist (like dl incognito or dr dre) and i want to throw some money their way

pirating is annoying. it takes forever to download a whole album, you can never find all the songs you want, the quality is usually shit, viruses, the list goes on and on

ive downloaded almost all of the music that i have. i use soulseek, and its incredibly easy to download the whole album without viruses.

if im at a show, i will sometimes buy a cd from the band/artist that way, so the money actually goes to them. very rarely in the past....7 years have i boughten anything from a record store.

Ha you're calling me rich because i will spend 10 dollars to get some good music? I guess i could afford that with my 14 dollar and hour job i have. Ahh money, gotta love it. I love how people make fun of kids who are "rich" its unfortunate their parents did better than the kids making fun of their kids.

why woudl you when you can use bearshare and find stuff that wasnt released on albums that is usualy sicker like most underground rap

rather go spend my money on some herb then burn the herb and listen to my illegal music, makes me feel like a bad ass

dude yo take every oppurtunity to brag about 14 an hour dont you?

i download it all pretty much, cause if i buy a cd the quality is good, but its just gonna be worse when i put it on my ipod so it doesnt really matter to me. i usually download single songs on bearshare and use albumshare for a full album i want.

This is what I've been doing lately. I'll hear about a song from someone or from somewhere. I'll go to the iTunes store and check out the 30 second clip. If I like it a lot I'll usually buy it. After a few days of listening to it I'll usually check out other songs by the artist and then illegally download the album.

torrents are a nice way to go, it just sucks trying to find a cd that isnt all that popular, because you cant find shit, but that is when backup means come in handy.

i buy music from artists i really respect and idolize because they deserve money for thier hard work. they gosta eat

i download all of my music. i think that if your going to buy, only buy from lesser known bands becvause chances are they have less money than dre/snoop dog or whatever big names you listen too. the lesser known bands need the money more than the well known ones.

luckily for me, I can download albums in about 15 seconds over the LAN at UBC, from anyone who is connected to the residence network and has DC++. On my floor alone there are several people with 6000+ songs, and one of my friends has every metallica album on his computer.

Yarrr, I'm a pirate.

I make 30 dollars and hour or more with my summer job. I still download music. the moment I see snoop or dre or JayZ driving a car worth less than 50Gs is the day I will buy music.

i buy everything from iTunes.

album base would be nice, but i can't open .RAR's

oh well, i get high quality music and super fast

ive got about 10 000 songs on my computer, if i bought them all off itunes @ $1 a song, id be $10 000 in the hole.

BitComet is the shit

my buddy is all about music and using bit torrents and his "sources" so i just use aim for file sharing and get most of my stuff from him. its pretty dope he tends to get a lot of cd quality albums months before theyre released. if i need something he doesnt have ive used limewire in the past but im going to check out this albumbase site.

You could download music of great quality on Torrent.

Your "150 Megawatt" computer speakers make it all sound the same anyways.

I wouldn't ever buy a big name artist, but little artists that need the support and the money deserve their cred, because they probably actually wrote the song, though i really hate those stupid slips they put in your CD's that are like 'thank you for not pirating', and those anti-download commercials at the movies
