PATRIOTS SIGN JOHN LNYCH

oh trust me, I'm enjoying it. 18-1. I will be sure to bump this thread in february when the Patriots have failed again to win the superbowl. 18-1. If you don't win the Superbowl you are just a loser. 18-1. Maybe you can make the claim that the Patriots were the best loser last year? 18-1

2007 Winner: GIANTS

2007 Losers: PATRIOTS, Bills, Dolphins, Jets, Ravens, Bengals, Browns, Steelers, Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders, Chargers, Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins, Bears, Lions, Packers, Vikings, Falcons, Panthers, Saints, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Rams, 49ers, Seahawks.

your team is just another loser, sorry, your 'dynasty' as tainted and illegitimate as it was has come to an end.

Did you cry after the game? Hahah, I wish I could have seen your face when reality set in that the Giants just shit all over your dream.

ok, sorry but you don't really know what you're talking about. maybe you follow football but that doesn't mean you follow the patriots and know everything. I certainly don't follow the bills and everything they do so I don't make predictions about what I don't know. Here's what I do know though:

1) Samuel is a product of the patriots defensive system. He had excellent closing speed and the ability to jump routs, which belichick knew, and structured our secondary around it. We always had a safety over the top to cover samuel, which allowed him to jump routs. when he got beat we would still have the safety, but he got a lot of picks because of this. He wanted to be paid more, and belichick doesn't pay players if they're not worth it, he knew samuel was just decent. Randy moss is worth the money. Brady is worth the money. Samuel is NOT worth the money. The eagles are gonna be scratching their heads when they realize samuel sucks in 1 on 1 coverage and always gets beat deep. Just like the many other great players that were products of the system but left for better money and never lived up to their expectations.

2) Lynch is NOT going to have to cover recievers. We origionally had tank williams who is a great strong safety who can also play linebacker, a key part in matching up with teams with strong tight ends like Indy. Lynch is gonna be a decent replacement for him, and will mostly be asked to play up near the line and stop the run, blitz and cover tight ends. Belichick knows hes not fast so hes not gonna expect him to cover receivers, and he knows how to use smart veteran guys.

3) Corners are not an issue. So far the corners are one of the best surprises so far this pre season. Ellis Hobbs has certainly improved and an already decent career (hes really not that bad, a lot of times it looks like he got beat but that's because there should have been a safety over the top, not his fault). We also have Fernando Bryant, who has been very solid for us, then our two draft picks Terence Wheatly and Jonathan Whilite have also been very good so far.

4) Our starting linebackers come first game: Mike Vrabel (33), Teddy Bruschi (35), Jerod Mayo (22), Adalius Thomas(31). Thats a solid linebacker crew, with Vrabel coming off his best season so far and a pro bowl, and Thomas moving to his natural position of outside linebacker where he is expected to dominate. Other key guys are Shawn Crable, Victor Hobbson, Pierre Woods and Eric Alexander, all but hobbson are young and they all are talented. Linebackers are one of our strongest positions.

5) Offense is going to be as strong as last year. Not as dominant because as you say, teams now know how to stop our pass. However I think this year will show the emergence of one of the strongest and deepest running back cores in the league. With Maroney (almost 1,000 yards in only 7 games last year), Sammy Morris (also very good before he was injured), Kevin Faulk (one of the best third down backs in the league, great blocker and catching), and Lamont Jordan (1000+ yard and 70 catches in 2004). Thats 3 starting quality running backs and a very good third down back. Running will keep blitzes honest and open up the passing game, so don't expect 50+ points a game, but we'll be more versatile and prepared for any situations.

With our weak schedule, as I said before less than 12 wins would be very disappointing. That's counting loosing 2 of 3 versus Indy, Pittsburgh and San Diego, and then 2 upsets somewhere else. As you can see that's a pretty big stretch in itself, I can realistically see 14 or 15 wins.

honestly, i think anyone of the patriots fans that think they will be as good as they were last year has no clue what they are talking about. yes, the patriots are going to be good this year. no doubt. and yes they'll be a high seed in the playoffs, maybe even number one seed seeing as their schedule is a fucking walk in the park for the most part. i am personally seeing a 12-4 record for them, no better. i don't see them winning 2 out of 3 games against the colts, chargers and steelers. i think they'll beat the steelers, sadly haha.

and really, i don't think they're going to return to the superbowl. i think the colts are going to tear them up this year, or the chargers. it's almost impossible to be as good as they were last year. and even though the were that good, they still didn't make it all the way. HA!

sorry i had to throw in that last line, i'm a die hard patriot hater at heart.

every GM???? in the WHOLE NFL????? wow thats saying a lot...... lets see the steelers are good at safety ah.... the bears are alright there i think.... and oh the ravens, the chargers and of course the COLTS!!!!! Jim Ersay wouldnt want a old player any way look at the roster.... we (colts) are one of the youngest teams in the NFL..... and tom brady is girl.... im sorry but every time i see him in a press confrense hes makin a gay remark or giving a dumb smile and wearing that dumb hat..... oh for whoo every....

about the fake crowd noise.... i doubt patriot fans or any other fans or teams for that matter will have to worry about games being as loud cause the colts are opening Lucas Oil Stadium a brand new 700$ million stadium thats twice as big as the dome so it wont b quite as loud for all of you that are offended by crowd noise.......

off the subject but KYLE ORTON is the newly named starting QB of the bears.... not that i really care but its nice to see another purder grad. starting at the pos.... i forgot does rooselvelt colvin still play for the pats or was he released?????

my bad its PURDUE and take the "oh for whoo every...." out didnt mean to put that in i should probably check my post next time....

Shaun Rogers moving to Cleveland is something everyone should watch, he is nasty, crazy interception last year if anyone remembers, he came from tha lions

"i cant wait until the bills torch the pats secondary for 400 yards passing ;)"

hahahahahaahahaha

fans like this are the main reason boston teams get so much hate. you kids are everywhere and are fucking annoying. Great yours teams are winning, win with some class and don't rub it in everyone's face at every god damn party. Sorry, but I just can't stand hearing four boston kids stroking each other over pro teams. "Our teams are stacked and we are winning!!!! SURPRISE!"

i hate boston teams..... ya the celtics are ok.... but only because my man Larry Bird is a legend there ( i shook his hand last year at a basketball game...)

i truly believe that the colts are just a hair worse than the patriots, im not just saying that because im a pats fan. i dont see the chargers as nearly as big of a threat as the colts, cause quite frankly, they have tremendous skill players but norv turner is the shittiest coach ever. the steelers i see as even less of a threat, because well they just arent as good as us. if we play the colts in the playoffs, its gonna be a toss up. theres no way theyre gonna tear us up though. our running game is really good now. last year laurence maroney averaged 4.5 yds a carry and sammy morris had a great year until he got injured early. laurence maroney is gonna have the best year ever, because well he wears a visor and has dreads. he looks like predator, making him the best back in the league duh, thats how LT is so good. (jk) anyway, if you actually watch asante samuel, he is not very good at man coverage at all.

im just really surprised at this thread and some of the comments in it. I honestly thought you guys would all just shut up after losing the superbowl but your all still just as annoying

Why not the Bills?

Do you follow football?

The Bills should have a great offense this year. They don't have a real weak spot. 4 solid receivers, Edwards isn't a star yet but he avoids negative plays and he will improve this year, and great running backs.

first of all.....

GO RAIDERS!!!!!

second of all anyone who thinks that because a team looses a big game they are bad is just stupid. yes the pats lost THE big game and yes the giants won THE big game but upsets happen. the reason for this great debate is because the definition of the best team varies. giant fans think they are the best because they won one significant game and the pats fans think they are the best because they won 18 less significant but still challenging games. if you ask me a team is determined by their season as well as the post season, and i think the pats were the better team during the season and the post season. as you can see this ideology makes sense because when you think of the raiders you think they suck you don't think of that they beat a very good browns team. hence pats>gaints

what???? jim edmonds way to bring baseball into a football thread.... r u a cardinal fan or do u just hate the cubs cause im not sure on the numbers but isnt he hitting like .255 or higher with the cubs???? he has like what 15 homers? not bad for $100k (his contract with the cubs) anyways jim edmonds is the fucking man!!!!!! tho ya he is old

ti wouldnt say they have NO weaknesses, but far fewer weaknesses than last year.

the biggest factor in the offenses success will be the development of second round draft pick James Hardy, who has to get up to speed with the NFL game ASAP if he wants to be a legitimate threat at receiver for the Bills (and hopefully a BEAST in the redzone).

as for the rest of the receiving corps: Lee Evans, nuff said. Josh Reed is a solid possession reciever and will do well in the slot as a #3. Between him and the speedy playmaker roscoe parrish splitting duties at #3, they will definately take advantage of some favorable matchups. but this all depends on the play of....

Trent Edwards! he MUST get better with every game, and good play from our TEs will help that (Robert Royal had 2 td's against pittsburghs starters, hopefully he can translate that into the regular season).

Marshawn Lynch is going to be a beast without a doubt. with a new offensive coordinator we should see him catching the ball out of the backfield too. Fred Jackson is a great complimentary back and will be used in a similar roll (perhaps catching more balls than many may expect). defenes will be shitting their pants if both lynch and jackson are on the field in a split back formation.

the o-line will be better after building on (almost) an entire year together for all 5 starters. chemistry and continuity are key for the o-line... lets hope Jason Peters ends his silly hold out sooner than later.

as for the DEFENSE

marcus stroud will solidify the run defense and also allow for Aaron Schobel to get more 1-on-1 matchups (he was often double and triple teamed last year on passing downs). John McCargo will have a breakout season next year and be a force collapsing the pocket and making plays in the backfield beside Stroud. Spencer Johnson and Kyle Williams will make for a good rotation keeping fresh legs at the DT positions.

Linebackers will be solid with the return of Poz and the signing of Kawika Mitchell.... dont expect teams to rush for 200 yds/game agains the bills anymore

we are DEEP at corner which will help against New England, and with Ko Simpson returning and Donte Whitner poised to have a probowl season.... our secondary is looking good.

our special teams will be sick.... pick your poisoin between leodis mckelvin (1 td return already in the preseason), terrance mcgee (7 career kickoff td returns) and roscoe parrish (highest punt return avg last year.... yes his avg was higher than hester)

the only weakness i forsee is play from our DEs (next year a first round DE is a MUST in the draft), and depth at O-Line

the Bills WILL make the playoffs.... mark my word

he'll help the team whether he plays or not, patriots have young db's and he'll coach them as a player. why do you think they keep Izzo around and make him a captain every year?

all you Pats fans and your "dynasty" can suck my cock. i lived in Chicago during the 90s if anyone wants to talk about a true dynasty. three championships? aw, that's cute. don't Jordan and Pippen have 6 rings? and one could easily argue they had a much more difficult run at it- way more games, way more opportunities to fuck up or get hurt. "dynasty" implies something truly remarkable and special... you guys didn't even legitimately three-peat. stop sucking your own cocks and let history be the judge of your supposed "dynasty". i mean, christ, in case any of you forget, by next February 3, it'll have been five years since the Pats brought home a Vince Lombardi Trophy and i'd be highly surprised if they were even able to do it... that's not a fucking "dynasty". your team's just got a few rings, but they certainly aren't a "dynasty".

as Jordan said, "72 and 10 don't mean a thing without the ring." it's ALL about championships and the Pats haven't won one in years. they're no fucking "dynasty".

last year moss and brady didnt have training camp to get familiar with each other. they the best seasons for a qb and a wr respectively.

now they have a year, AND training camp under their belt. they have the easiest schedule in the league (eventhough theyd fuck up whoever they play).and last time i checked, bellichick still coaches this team.

playoffs easily, we'll see who they face in tampa

ahahahahaha, I can sense the jealousy from here.

1) Football is 100 times harder to be consistently good than basketball. With free agency, salary cap, drafting, and the high risk of injury, football has more parity than any other sport.

2) One player doesn't make a team. its much harder to assemble a complete football team that can compete and win, because every person matters on the 53 man roster (some positions are more important such as qb, rb). In basketball all you need to do is get a couple all-stars and then bring in role players, such as what the celtics did this year. Sign KG and Ray and you have an instantly good team with the biggest turn around in NBA history. The bulls were jordan and pippen, thats it. You could replace all the other guys and it wouldn't have made much of a difference, they still would have won championships. Replace a couple of guys on any football team and it changes everything, they all provide something unique that compliments the team.

3) If you really want to talk about dynasty, the bulls aren't even the biggest dynasty in basketball, the celtics are. 11 championships in 13 years, 17 in total. Thats way more of a dynasty than 6 championships in the 90's, the great celtics teams covered the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's (not even counting the current decade as its too early to claim anything).

So really, quit talking out of your ass because you don't know shit about football.

kid obviously isent from Title Town dude, go easy on him. Its very easy to be jealous when your not from boston and you dont have 6 titles being won in the past 7 years. he just does not understand our decade of dominance .

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA do you know how to do simple addition? it will have been 4 years since we won a superbowl, you should change that "crazy" in your name to dumb.

you wanna talk basketball dynasties? celtics were way better of a dynasty

the celtics were a dynasty about 50 years ago when there was like 10 teams in the whole league so who really cares, most of those dudes are dead anyway.

The 72-10 Bulls were the greatest team in NBA history, obviously

you do realize the coaches and the quarterback run teh offense right? not the TE or wide outs?

the bills will be under .500, they're the bills. come on.

ditto to the kid who said he couldn't watch tv/espn/football for months after that loss. i honestly only remember bits and pieces of it, i think i blocked it out.

4 superbowls. 0 wins. ahahahhahahHHAHAHA. the bills might be the most hilarious franchise of all time. what was your first pick last year, it was something rediculous and the bills had an early pick. man i used to chill with this kid who was a bills/yankee fan, it was/is so easy and fun to make fun of them.

What are you even talking about? The draft? Last year the drafted Marshawn Lynch first round who's already one of the top 10 running backs in the league if not better. Yeah that's a pretty ridiculous pick.

$100 says he's back in week two. This is purely a salary cap move to avoid paying any guaranteed money, probably saves them 1.5 mil. He will be back after KC though.

I also expect the pats to make a move at ty law soon, probably pick up a couple o-line guys too.

Haha just saw the "Patriots release veteran S Lynch" on NFL.com and this threads title was right on an other tab.

ehh, probably a reach but I mean he still gets in the rotation and plays on a regular basis. Its not like hes so bad he got cut like the pats second pick of that draft, Chad Jackson. One pick certainly doesn't mess up a draft especially because Kyle Williams who's starting over McCargo got taken in the 5th round.
