Patriot Act Reinstated

Damn, that sucks. The patriot act is the worst thing that has ever passed, in my opinion. This thread should turn into quite the political debate though, sit back and watch the catfights begin!
 
Eh, I was thinking about this today. There's nothing we can do and there are ignorant people on these boards that believe the things the government tell them. Its not worth arguing because, unlike debates between intelligent people who can see eachother's point of view, on NS.com all you get are a few people who can debate, and then a huge hoard who for some reason support the Bush administration but can't give any reasons. Without reasons ("He has good morals" and "He's killing all the terrorists" don't count), there can be no debate.

Also, the Patriot Act breaks laws, so there can't be a debate about it. It's illegal, so its wrong. No matter who creates it, no one is above the law, so therefore its still illegal.
 
Bush was complaining like a little baby when the Patriot Act wasn't reinstated by congress...during his speech he proclaimed the necessity of the patriot act...which is specifically designed for counter-terrorism...however he slipped up and mentioned the surveilance of drug dealers along with terrorists...wire-tapping drug dealers, or criminals is fucking rediculous i don't care, that is absolutly unconstituional, wether right or wrong...not what the patriot act is supposed to be used for.
 
I also like how the phone tapping is legal. I bet in like 40 yrs people will look back and say wow, those laws were stupid like the alien and sedition acts, the espionage act of 1918, and the japanese concentration camps
 
haha yeah, it seems pointless to debate your opinions here. you're not going to be able to convince anyone that you're right. the patriot act hasn't affected my life at all and so i don't have any hate for it.
 
because i'm not a terrorist or a supporter of terrorism, i don't feel i have much to fear from it.

but w/e you want to think... if i'm ignorant, i'm ignorant. no point in debating this
 
i dont see how its ignorant, if it didnt effect his life, it didnt effect him, he isnt bullshiting us. the truth is, it probably will affect like 1% of us on NS, IF THAT. i personally have no problem with it, and i could care less, i think its a good thing to be getting rid of terrorists, but if you want them around, thats fine with me i guess...

and yeah i know its unconstitutional blah blah blah, but i dont really care, politics are so not hot right now.
 
Anyone of you that says this doesn't effect you, get out of my fucking country and leave it to those who care. There I said it.
 
why should I leave? i'm not the one who hates the laws. no one's forcing you to stay here so if you hate how it's being run, then leave
