Party interferes with skiing, help?!

So situation background: I live in residence (Victoria BC) about 3 hours from home (Vancouver). Ferry trip included. My skis are back home right now, I'm in res. I was planning on skiing back home this weekend, and picking up my skis for a trip that I'm planning the week after near my residence. But now with shitty weather my buddy jammed out. And to top it off I'm invited to a frat party somehow with an enforced 3:1 girl/guy ratio, with girls invite only (so they're probably going to be quality) this Friday. I'm not in the frat but I scored an invo and it won't happen again. I only got in because they know I have a camera and like to edit stuff, and want me to make a promo.
Now the thing is my skis are still going to be out in Vancouver, and with this Friday being better spent out in Victoria (not anything going on back home), I wouldn't be able to pick up my skis. This would then stop me from being able to ski next weekend.
So the question is really: is this party (that won't present itself again ever) worth missing a ski trip (with a really sick crew that won't happen again for another month and a half)? Is there another way to get both?
If anything comes to mind that would be great. I've asked all my friends and they haven't had any good ideas, so this is my last brainstorm sesh.
 
Hang out with people who only want to use you.....

Or hang out with true friends and have fun doing what you love?

Seems like a pretty easy choice to me.
 
Pretty sure the camera will get their attention more than he will. Just sayin' - not that I know if he's pimp or anything. But he said if he goes to the party, he can't go skiing w/ his buddies (both being a one time deal). He can't have the best of both worlds, hence the dilemma.
 
what mountain are you planning on skiing? it's been raining on pretty much all the vancouver mountains for like a week and cypress is now closed.
 
maybe u can steal skis while there like one of the other threads were talking about... jk man. Your screwed, my opinion is ski man, pick up some chicks from the mountain if u got true playah status
 
Two years at University and I still have no clue why people like to go to frat parties. Maybe it's just me but I don't like going to parties knowing practically all the girls get a new guy to ran through them every weekend.
 
Maybe all frat parties aren't created equally, but from my experience they all suck. Especially if you're not in the frat, you'll be standing in a corner all night and will have to jump through hoops to get a beer. Seriously, go skiing and get tanked with your buddies, or get the skis mailed to you.
 
Seriously these guys are just trying to use you. As soon as you start hitting on a girl, getting a beer, whatever they will be douches. Trust me. Just because your invited to the party doesn't mean you are equal to the frat in the mind.
 
See if you know anyone back home who is making the trip to your area who could bring your skis up for you. You could try what someone suggested earlier and have them shipped to you. If that doesnt work out and you still want to go to the party just wake up early the next morning and hit the road although that is a lot of driving for one day. If you can't manage to do both I would go skiing with your friends. There will be plenty of good parties throughout the year.
 
i belong to a frat actually with a ton of skiers in it. one films and edits a lot for us on the mountain. personally i think is gay to film a frat party. ours are pretty open and all my homies that aren't in frats come and its whatever but the idea of filming people partying is stupid. most likely half the footage wont be usable. they only want you to get sweaty pics of hot bitches to show to freshman coming in next year. if i was in BC id be skiing, save your footage for something cool not useless sluts at a party that (sounds like it) would be a hostile boring place for a guy not in a frat
 
dude I think every Vic party I have been to so far has had a good enough ratio anyways. but why can't you just go home on saturday?
PS were are you skiing in 2 weekends? Mt.Wash rail Jam?
 
Beta Tau. It's a new one that my buddy is helping start up. I think its a branch of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
And to Rich, yeah man Mt Washington the next weekend.

But some more info. I know one of the head dudes way back from elementary school, and a good number from high school, but it's still a frat and I probably won't get another invo. I partied with these guys before and they're all super chill. I have a good reputation with them too (read the long-coat thread I made if you're bored), so it's pretty much guaranteed to be fun.
I don't really care about the party footage anyways that much. But you're right, it's probably gonna suck. It'll probably be too dark to use most of it too.

Thanks for the ideas everyone, I might be able to get someone to pick the gear up on their way back from Van this weekend, or I could make my way back on Saturday too I just realized. So it sounds like I'll be able to do both!
 
Peach.............. Pretty sure he might only be hitting on maybe 1 chick (just thinking) and there is a ratio of 3 girls to one guy leaving another possible 2 for somebody else. I'm pretty sure even if he's going after 2 they won't really care. But if they don't like you then this is plausible
 
and you should come find mitch and I. We are often found at the fountain or in biblio being steezy with all the whis boys.
 
Adrian was that you I saw today by the fountain/lib? If it was you weren't wearing a hat and I've never seen you without one.
And yeah I love UVic. The ratio can't be beat. But this party is probably gonna be epic. DJ, smoke machine, open bar, laser/lights, etc. And I'm gonna have to try to trust the guys to invite with good taste.

As for my skis, I probably have that sorted out so I can do this party and ski still. Mailing not required. Thanks everyone! You helped out big time.
 
Ok, the best parties/nights are either OPEN house parties, or just nights out with friends, and whoever else chooses to come... not forced ratio parties with frat boys, who will probably make it impossible for you to take advantage of the ratio if your not in the frat... from my experience these parties are usually terrible, the girls that are available are usually gross, if not in terms of looks then in personality, this combined with the general doucheness of most frat boys combines to make a terrible party...
 
I'd say get your skis shipped to you. Not that any of the mountains (Whis, Grouse, Mt Wash) are really that great right now. With the price of the ferry ($13.50 + tax) for a one way walk on you could have them shipped to you by UPS for only slightly more than it would cost for you to go home and pick them up.
 
you do realize saying "most frat guys" and talking about the girls that are there is like saying "man those black guys"... the kid also said he's friends with a bunch of them...
 
ya I didn't wear a hat today, but I usually do... and prob a good chance since any time spent not in class is spent at the fountain..
 
Well thought I'd do a quick follow up. The party was amazing, best I think I've been to ever actually. The lowest girl was probably a 7/10 (and maybe 5 of the 50 girls were at that level), the music was awesome, and the girls were easier than snowplowing down the bunny hill. Not quality personality-wise at all, but that's not what these type of parties are for. The guys all helped all the other guys (including me) with girls, so they weren't douches at all. And the footage did turn out pretty dark and terrible... Oh well I still got to party.
And my skis are getting brought over by a friend tomorrow. So I'll be able to ride next week. Mission solved, thanks everyone.
 
^hahahahaha. But to answer that question :( Not that I remember though... It was a night of many makeouts and I didn't get much more than that.
 
i have created this warp hole.. its in my pants in the form of a snake.. you need to rub this snake until it becomes wet, repeat at least 10 times in the span of 3 hours then our wish will be fulfilled . you may use hand and mouth
