Particle Accelerators

Has anyone else heard of these- they smash atoms so u can see the nuclie and stuff- its sweet- they r building one that they might be able to different dimensions- there was a rumor that it could create a blackhole- but the amount of energy required isn't here on earth and even if there was it would take 1.5 million years for it to develop into something that would actually suck shit in. id just thought id post do to the different dimensions and stuff like that-

cliff notes- thing that can see into different dimensions

oh by the way the one that they are bulding is 8 miles long- they are building a new one in 10 years that will be forty miles long

u need to get educated son.

its pretty tight cuz with these they were able to discover many different particles which could lead to proving the m theory which would then unify the quantum universe with the large universe which is ruled by gravity. now they need a larger one to find a certain particle that would prove that the string theory exists.

now i understand. a black hole is really a rip in the space time continum(sp). imagine a sheet with different balls on it. the amount they push down on the sheet is like their gravity. now, the larger the ball the more gravity it has. hypothetically, if there was a ball large enough, the sheet would rip, and create a hole. which is a black hole. this whole would be able to pull matter in because its gravity would be immense. although the only way to fall in would be to travel over the edge of the black hole. it would be possible to make, if we could find a way to create more mass on the earth. but this amount is so large that it is classified as impossible.

MY science 9 teacher was a little out there and had all these theories about how man would destroy himself and the black hole theory someone else mentioned was one of his favourites. Its kind of believe-able. Pretty funny to think that they spend all that money to essentially smash things together to learn about them when you think about it.

it is physically impossible to come out of a blackhole- the gravity is so immense the whole solar systems and stars are sucked into them- the reason they are called black is because light cannot even escape them- that is the fastest known thing in the universe and it shouldnt respond to gravity, but it does- they are created when a huge star called a superigant goes supernova and implodes on itself- which starts the chain of endless gravity-

these particle accelerators are so cold because they are cooled with liquid helium. This is 4k- or like -400 fahrenheit- if it was 0k it would be absolute zero- which is impossible to reach- if u got to that temerature all life in the area would stop and there would be a void in both time and matter- they speed up the particles to near ligth speed with these huge magnet set up in a circle- they are 27 tons a piece and there are 600- the particles go around the 7 mile loop in 40 nanoseconds- so thats pretty fuckin fast which is why they are cooled with liquid helium to keep the temps down.

There is a proposed accelerator that would move the particles in Plasma(the fourth matter) rather than a vacuum- which in turn means that there can be more energy disperesed which means they can go even faster

woah woah woah- this is not about black holes- its about particle colding at ludicris speeds- and besides it starts in a few days-

Its called the Large Hadron Collider. It can't pass through dimensions; it can't rip the space/time continuum. All its supposed do is prove that the Boson particle exists, and, if it does, it will prove string theory; at least in some respects.

I doubt any of you know what or how string theory works or the complex math involved beyond what wikipedia tells you, but I'm not gonna bother trying to explain something no one but like 8 people understand.

And as to the person with the thing about the black hole, it is not a tear in the space/time continuum. It is simply what is called a quantum singularity, in which all mass = 1. It is possible to break free of a black hole, but short of a wormhole (which is possible), it is waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too hard to explain. Think calculus and solar masses. I read about it though. Didn't make damn sense at all.

But one interesting fact is that Black Holes can fill up. It only takes 2 million x the amount of solar mass that composes the black hole. IE lots of stars.

I think my school has one maybe ill try to get aceses to it after i get board of playing with the SEM

they've been doing it for years, probably before you were even a twinkle in your daddy's eye. doesn't matter if it's a repost, now is not the time to be saying "anyone ever heard of this?"

okay?

oh my bad its just something i am learning in my nucler physics class- yeah so dont try to tell me the history on them senor douche

They had this same issue in a recent Discover mag. They pretty went on to say that mini black holes are heavier and more dense than the larger and supermassive ones. Taking into acount Hawking radiation, the denser (IE smaller) black hole throws more energy out. The black holes, if created in the accelerator, would be extremely small, and would most likely evaporate and disapear as soon as it was created.
