Parks near UBC, Vancouver.

i just got my place at ubc, obviously the skiing side of things had nothing to do with my choice. i know that whistler isnt far, and could be skiid at weekends or holidays or whatever, but i want to know what hills are near ubc/vancouver, have some form of park, and preferably night skiing capabulity (for riding every day after class).

anyone with any knowledge, i would greatly appreciate your input.

seymour and grouse are about an hour away, they both have parks and are open at night i think.

whistler is about 2 hours away.
 
thats sick. are they really gritty parks, or are they actually quite a good level. (i am from europe so not used to keystone, breck etc.!) are there any that are really close? like 15mins or something? basically i'm lookin for a little bit of jibbin, not necessarily huge kickers for late afternoon after class stuff.
 
i am pretty sure grouse, cypress, and seymour. are closer than 1 hour to ubc, and it would deffinatly be pratical for after your classes. my local mountain is grouse for 2 reason, its cheap, and can get rides there easily cause it has a tram going to the top instead of a road so i dont need a ride all the way to the top. park wise seymours is probably the best. grouses was good at times this year though, and cypresses ( i only went there once) was pretty good. for local mountains.
 
It takes longer than that by car in the afternoons. No matter how you do it south of the inlet you have to cross Cambie, and the only other route takes you DT which is worse. Taking 25th out to BBY, then highwaying it to Seymour takes over an hour to your parking space. I've done it more than a few times this year. By bus it's a nightmare.

Grouse is the easiest to get to by bus. It goes 44, seabus, 236, or 99, 98, seabus, 236 which is sometimes faster. Either way it will take you about an hour to the skyride.

Cypress isn't even worth thinking about by bus. By car it takes 45-60 minutes from UBC; 4th or 16 to Burrard, Burrard to Georgia, Georgia across the lions gate, Taylor way, highway.

All in all, with the traffic issues we have in this city right now, the Shore is very hard to access.

 
they're decent. some good jib setups, and sometimes legit jumps. seymour has some really good hikeable BC stuff...
