Hey NS,

Looking for an outside opinion here. I got a parking ticket in new york city for $45 last week. I am only here for 4 more days before i move to california. should i pay it?

Pay it.

After 15 days it nearly doubles and if you don't pay after that they automatically get a judgment against you. Then its collection agencies etc......

The city's gotta collect that revenue!

its less than $50 bucks so yes. I'm not sure what the repercussions are when you move out of the state though. I guess you don't have to pay it unless they catch you in NY?

It's only $45. Just save yourself the future hassel and pay it/be done with it. I've had friends who have ignored parking tickets in cities/states they knew they were leaving or wouldn't be back to for awhile, it almost always comes back to bite you in the ass at some point.

I didn't pay off some parking tickets from bozeman (i live in utah) and I didn't hear shit from them for like two years thought for sure I was in the clear (registration on my car had different address etc) and one day I got a collections notice and had to bite the bullet and pay. My ticket was like $20 and I ended up paying like $90 I think.

Albany got me so bad one year.

If you're parking in Albany, make sure there's not a handicapped sign for giraffes.

I'm from upstate and when I was younger, I got parking tickets in the city on 2 different occasions and never paid shit and just forgot about them..

That was a few years back and maybe the city was less hard up for money. But you are an out of state resident as well which is good, I would only pay it if ya got spare change and couldn't use that 45 more than them..

and hopefully the NSA doesn't flag my post and track me down

I got 5 parking tickets my first year at plymouth. 1 $150, 1 $50, and rest 20's.

I got out of two, paid two, and didn't pay one. Haven't heard shit and it was for 20 bucks. Thing is I got the ticket even though I didn't what the police recommend to avoind getting tickets (hazards on while I went into a building for 10 minutes). Was like "fuck that" didn't pay and haven't heard anything.

Don't know how much this differs from a city but I'm sure its the same premise.

Just pay it dude, its only 45 bucks. There's nothing worse than having that type of thing come full circle a year down the road with a shit ton of interest and a collection agency on your ass.
