I'm moving to vancouver in about a month, and I'd really like to bring my car.Only problem is the place I'm staying has no street parking...

Is it possible to find free parking around vancouver?

If I parked on a small residential street would I get ticketed?

Thanks in advance everyone, +K

Right around Oak and Broadway. Yeah I thought there would probably be some free parking in residential areas but I've also heard you need a residential parking pass.

well I can't say 100% on Oak, but I know my girlfriend lives on b-way and fraser and there is free parking up a few blocks, like on 12th. If there is a resident pass thing I'm sure you could get it.

Tough to say, Oak and Broadway is still in the Kits area... You may find that it'll be tough to find anywhere that doesn't need a parking pass. At least, that's my experience with anything in Kits, and I live at UBC

Pretty far East to be calling it Kits, it's Fairview more than anything else. But anyway, I found free parking on 6th and 7th just east of Oak recently. Most of those streets seem to be part permit-only and part free, so I suppose you could get lucky and always find free parking or try and see if the city would give you a permit.

i would try and get a permit for that area would save you the hassle of driving around and finding parking. all you need is some sort of billing address and a piece of ID. i believe its $80 for the year (unsure thats what i got quoted for)
