Park vs. Free ride

i personally like freeriding a lot more than park.

skiing in the woods with deep powder you can do nearly all the same things, from jumping off cliffs/ledges, to doing stalls on trees(takes some build-up tho).

i feel like theres much more thrill to the freeriding aspect of skiing.

what you guys think?

well for me there aint to much freeriding in nh unless i take the drive to jays peak which is sick

freeride is so much better though

Freeriding is always better when the conditions are right and you can find the goods.

As you get older you tend to freeride more and more.

i like both about equally, but there is nothing in the park that can compare to hitting soft, smooth pow that smacks your face when you glide through it

its more a matter of posting the same thread over and over agian or using the search bar for me.

That was weak dude.

Ive never rode pow pow because I live in NY so I would have to go with park but im down for trying free ride.

Pretty much. By the time you're 30 you only ski on 12 inch days or higher.

I love freeriding. I love skiing trees, and even just a few inches of fresh. I'm not very good at park skiing at all anyways, but I think even if I was I would get more excitement out of freeriding. Getting tricks that have been hard for me can't compare to skiing even a few inches of fresh.

I love filming and shooting park stuff though.

Every pow day last season, I thought if it was like this everyday, I would never be in the park. But its not so I appreciate the park which is where I end up alot of the time

I agree, the bc is my preferred habitat. However, park skiing has gotten very technical, but I think that the style factor has a ways to go. There are only a few pro comp riders who steeze everthing out well, so I would like to see the sport continue to progress, and the park is a big part of that.

same here. although i do wanna get better at park skiing and then take my game out into the free ride terrain when conditions permit.

whhaaaaat? you got that backwards . there are only a few pro riders that steeze BC out very well. there are PLENTY of park riders with tons of style. go to keystone or mammoth and see for yourself.

on another note, i fucking hate when i see people that claim to be "freeriders" or "big mountain skiers" but you can find them in the park on a pow day, because in reality, they just cant ski for shit. just because you hit up your local hill's black diamond on a pow day doesnt make you a bc ripper.

if theres pow, im not gonna ride the park. except one time i had to hit this box covered in 6 inches of freshies and did just a grind to fakie. felt nice

if i skied somewhere other than indiana i would maybe ski one day a week in the park. as it is i hardly take a run out of the park

thier both pretty sick styles of skiing and i prolly do em bout 60 freeride 40 park...

but yea anytime theres good snow freeride beats the hell outa park!!!

Just dont bash park rats. Some of them dont have a choice, some guys just like to jib. if you live in CO and dont ever hit some real mountains, you're nuts, but if you dont have the oppurtunity or aren't able to for some odd reason thats fine. I'm not accusing anybody here but people are way to quick to bash "park rats" without ever understandy why we dont ride the upper mointain.

I ride park because at my tiny molehill it is the only thing that really keeps me entertained real well other than maybe a mogul run.
