Hi NS,
I am in the process of getting my Canadian working holiday visa for the upcoming season in Whistler and am looking to get a new ski set up for this season.
My stats:
Age: 18
Weight: around 160lbs/75kg
Height: 6ft 1
Ability strong all mountain skier mainly off piste etc. Skiing since I can remember
Current main skis Volkl Mantra 184 w/ Marker Griffons
Also cruising around on some 2012 ex-rental Line Blends (171 I think) w/ Marker Squires (horrible bindings I know!)
This holiday I have just nailed my first 3 off a windlip on the mountain and some other spots but am yet to dial it in the park. As I said above I am normally a strong all mountain skier and that is where I spend most of my time but have been wanting to learn park for a while for when the conditions don't match up to big mountain powder lines.
I have been bumming around on some Line Blends for a while and want to upgrade my park setup to some new skis with decent bindings (FKS 140 are in mind). I have seen a lot of love for the Line Chronic's and the ON3P Filthy Rich's. I have enjoyed the Blends being 100 underfoot as it gives a bit more of an all mountain feel but I have the Mantras for that so I'm not sure whether to go for a skinnier park ski or stay in the realm of the Blends.
What I am effectively asking is are FR's and Chronics a good place to start or is there somewhere else I should look like Armada or Volkl Walls? I am a very beginner in the park but consider myself a strong skier with CSIA level 2 and planning to teach on a season and use my free time to learn to shred the park.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and if you're one of the few people who will be in Whistler staff housing on a season next year drop me a line as I'll be rocking up all alone.
Cheers!
