Do you ever find that just because you're hyphy you get looked at funny and Ski Patrol pays extra attention to you? What can we do to stop this short of changing mountains?

I've never had a problem with ski patrol, and since most 'ski' patrol are 'skiers', I doubt they're going to pay extra attention to you unless you deserve it.

Maybe the racers are jealous, or depending on how 'hyphy' you are, they could be just having a laugh.

what do you expect when you wear clothes 5 times too big. are going to stare no matter where you are if thats how you dress.

does this wonder you?
have you ever looked at how some parkrats look like?!they look like gangster with a dress; no wonder people look at them....

i dont have a problem with racers, its mostly just ski patrol. i was

heading back to my car early this year and had to go down the baby run,

so instead of goin on the run and getting my pass pulled i ducked into

the trees and figured i would be good because there shouldnt be any

newbies in the trees. apparently that wasnt good enough for the ski

patrol who saw me going to fast in the trees adjacent( i was probably 15 yards deep in the trees) the baby run

because he tracked me down and started the typical ski patrol dick head

speech, blah blah blah. fuck ski patrol, bunch of fuckin weekend warriors who picked up skiing at 25 and patrol just to get the free pass....of course i am generalizing here

The fact you guys have ski patrols in the USA seems kinda funny to me.

I've never heard of a skipatrol in europe!

I can actually ride as fast as i want, where i want and how i want..

an exception would be the swiss people, there are some regions where you arent allowed to ski in the BC because the wanna prevent damage to the nature...

lol my dads a patroller and he always looks at me funny.just like will smith said parents just dont understand

yeah there is alot of that around Ottawa

like no matter what, people will look at you kinda funny, but i like it cause im letting them know what freestyle skiing is all about!

it's called profiling and it happens everywhere. yeah, you look like a thug so naturally patrollers are going to assume your they type of asshole that skis all out of control or switch through learning zones and endangers other skiiers on the hill, and keeping skiiers safe is one of their number one priorities on the hill.

You could realize that in the long run it doesn't really matter, as it's such a trivial matter and not worry about it so much.
There's stereotypes involved with dressing like most park skiers do. Just realize they exist, and do your best to not perpetuate them.

im at a small racer mountain (white pass, the mahre bros). ski patrollers arent douches. its the management. they just favor the racers- not allowing the park to build bigger features or expand, giving their team jackets but not the FS team and demolishing a really good mogul course so they could move their gates 10ft to the left (no exaggeration here).

who cares? we're different than them, they treat us different. life goes on it happens every day. now you know what its like to be black in a country club

Some ski patrol have a "cop complex". Like maybe 1 in 100. Most have a medical background and just want to help people.

Dont be a out of control douche. You are straightlining it in beginner areas and you wonder why ski patrol has a problem with you? What are you, a 12 year old psychopath?

IT IS NOT YOUR CLOTHES, IT IS YOU!!

i don't know if I've ever felt discriminated against but my hill definitely cares more about their race programs then their parks.

what the fuck are "Racer Mountains"?
but about your post, people are going to stare at you if you wear tall apparel, thats how it is. if you don't like people staring at you wear different clothes. it shouldn't matter to you if people are staring at you or not, your skiing and thats what matters.
and on a little side-note rant, people reallyyy need to stop making threads about hating on racers/racing. if you they really are as mean as you say talk to them about it and stop making bitchy threads on NS because that is not going to change anything.

crystal mt. washington = the epitome of park rats being discriminated against
my friends were going "a little too fast" and ducked a rope and literally came back in FIVE FEET LATER and they got their tickets pulled
honestly 5 feet.

That's probably because you're just a bunch of roller bladers that need to think outside the box and learn how to ski real mountains, on real snow, with real skis, with real helicopters... DUH!

a ski patrol threatened to pull my pass for going like 10 miles an hour while making small turns in a slow zone when a racer bee lined it rite by me and he saw him too and still stoped me

at loon the other day i was hitting the jump line and i came over the last jump and a ski patrol tele dude was making turns down the landing. i didnt hit him, but when he stopped on the knol below i him this. "excuse me, but could you please not ski on the landing of the jumps? i am blind when coming over the jump and could not see you on the landing and i could have hit you if you were 10 feet to the left"

he then goes on the tell me about how he has every right to ski down the landings because its a public park and that i need a spotter for every jump ( 6ish jumps if i rember). i tell him it is dangerous and that its in the park rules and code to clear the landing as quickly as possible and stuff like that.

i was very kind, but he just seemed to not understand and i wanted to punch him becuase i actually could have gotten hurt.

that is my story.

this is true. OH and fucking racers that spread their skis everywhere as if they're too good for the racks or fucking ski check SUCK. just use them as jibBonKs

lol really? is that why I'm like snowplowing like everyone else in a slow area and ski patrol almost takes my pass for going too fast? I laughed so hard. I was going slowed than traffic.

Have you ever been hated or discriminated against, I have, i've been protested and demonstrated

against
