Park ski as a second ski

I come from more of a freeride background and my everyday ski is a 189cm 08/09 K2 Seth (98 in the middle, technically with "mini rocker" but it's pretty much non-existent) mounted 2cm forward of K2s "all-mountain" mark. I still love these as a quiver ski. I haven't skied a lot of park but I do like hitting natural / backcountry kickers. Biggest tricks at the moment are double backflips and 7s but I'm finding it pretty hard to throw this kind of stuff on the big planks so really want a ski that I can throw around a bit more easily to learn new tricks in the park.

I'm 25, 6'3'' (190cm) and 205 lbs. I'm looking for a ski almost exclusively for park as I've still got the Seth's for most other things. I hardly ever ski rails so it'll be 98% kickers. I've found a pretty good deal on a pair of 179cm K2 Revivals with Marker Griffon Schizo bindings. How do people who know a bit more about park skiing think these will work for me? I like the idea of the rocker to reduce catching tips and tails. Stiffness-wise, will I be better with a fairly stiff ski like the Revivals as I'm fairly big or, as I'm looking for something completely for park, would I be better on something a bit softer and lighter?

Finally, and I hope that this is a stupid question, would I notice a big difference in swing weight between the Revivals and the Seths for kickers? I'd centre mount them on the Schizos for park so I guess that alone would make a pretty big difference.

181 s4. nice and stiff super light. really poppy. no rocker but they are one of the best skis ever made.

Thanks guys. I'm also looking at the Armada Alpha 1s. Anyone know how these compare to the likes of the Revival and S4 as a pure park ski (stiffness, swing weight, actual weight, pop etc)?

Just put Schizos on your Seths. 189 is fine for you for everything, I'm lighter than you and ski the original 189 Fujas as my park ski.

IMO if your looking for a pure park ski that will be used pretty much for jumps only I would suggest a fully cambered ski and something with a medium - stiff flex. A lot of it is probably personal opinion, but i do truly believe that a full cambered ski, particularly for jumps, is the only way to go, they have better carving off lips and generally more stable on landings.

The other question is whether you want a symmetrical or directional ski.

Some great skis to look into would be - Symmetrical: Volkl Wall, Moment Reno Jib, Atomic Punx (Punx is on the softer side). Directional: Rossi S4, Armada ar7

I have owned the s4 and friggen love them and have skiied the ar7 and the wall and they are all pretty damn good skis (s4 is a stiffest of those 3). Also I havnt used schitzo's before but I have heard they are heavy and not very durable.

go for the revivals, stiff, good pricepoint and the rocker will make them really poppy and playful off jumps.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. Keeping them in mind, I've found a really good deal on 181 Rossi S4s so I'm probably going to go for them. Final question is (predictably) about bindings and mounting. I've found a place selling Rossi Freeski 140 XLs for £90 or Look Pivot 14s (basically silver Rossi FKS 140s) for £107.50. Are the pivot/FKS worth the little bit of extra cash and how to they compare for weight etc? I've heard they're really good for durability (metal heel-piece etc).

As I mentioned, I've always been more of a freerider so my bindings have been mounted reasonably far back. Would is be a reasonable shout to mount these core centre for park? I've never skied a centre-mounted ski so am kind of relying on you guys to let me know if it's sensible!

OK, thanks. The S4 does seem like a good option but I'd be really keen to hear some opinions on the Armada Alpha 1 too. I like the idea of the "elf-shoe" shape; bring the widest (and heaviest) part of the ski towards the centre of the ski and the swing weight should go down right?

Is there anyone out there that's tried the Alpha 1s or Halos and could compare it to a more traditional shaped and cambered park ski?
