Park poles

Im thinking of getting a pair of short park poles. I've never tried them so I'm wondering if it is worth it. Please recomend any kind of pole that would be good in the park. I'm 6 foot if that helps determine anything.

someone's bound to say this so i guess ill do it

don't use poles man, really. Ive used them for a long time but decided to stop to get all flowy with my arms and to try to force myself to grab more

i guess its up to you, i just think poles look better, and make spins looks way more difficult. You dont need to buy park poles because the only ones short enough are pointy sticks by line and kids poles, just buy some at a garage sale or take rentals and cut them down. bike grips too. those are cool

I ride without poles, I do not like the view with the poles, is a hassle.

I have not tried with poles and can not say whether they have advantages or not, say that with them are easier to keep the balance.

yeah use poles they look so much better and they can help with balance. dont worry about the length as you can always cut them down. I usually cut them to the tip of my hip bone or the end of my hands when there all the way down next to my sides

Buy a cheap pair of trekking poles, shorten them when your in the park, lengthen them on deep pow descents, you win every time.

So I snapped my poles which were of regular length (when I held them, my arms were slight more than a right angle).

Here is what I mean:

So I used rentals and changed lengths, and I found 'poles', where you don't need to bend your arms when holding the poles great in the park but a pain when actually trying to use and for the rest of the mountain. I use poles because it improves the quality of my pole plant which gives me greater control.

So I suppose if you stay in the park, go for no poles or short poles

All-mountain + park- shortish poles

All mountain- Regular (right angled) pole

Oh yeah, about style and the no poles and poles debate, just do what you feel most comfortable with. If you think no poles look better and and your overall appearance is important to you, then go for no poles.

Or just do this ^

OP this is the best analysis of your situation. You're welcome.

I like the scott team issue poles. Compared to all the other poles I've used it seems like the majority of the weight is up near the grips so when you spin you don't have that weight at the bottom of the pole sending you out of control.

If you want to ski with poles I find that the Line pointy sticks are the most comfortable poles to use and have have the best options for lengths.
