Park passes

this year, at my mountain they decided to make two different parks. there were always two parks but now there is one that u need a park pass. i was wondering peoples opinion about parks that u need a park pass. i think that its a good idea to keep people who cant ski park out of it, but it sucks for when u go to a mountain for one day and cant even ski their park.

I think they're bullshit. If you buy a ticket you should be able to ski the entire area. If you could buy a park only pass for cheaper it might suck less.

i think that its a good concept but it doesnt really work that well... sure it keeps the parents from cruising in the park since they say some good snow or whatever but the little kids still will waste their time to get a pass and cut everyone off and maybe even get hurt. i dont think its that big of a deal having it since it doesnt take long to get it but it is not as effective as they think it is

Yah but say you're the local who paid a little bit to have the park in way better shape all year long because the gapers aren't falling off the lips all day long.

but they keep people out exaclty like you...people who dont ski often and even if u r good at park or dont get in the way and respect everyone for 95% of the other people it makes it much better

so far, i had to buy 4 different park pass to go ski with my friends

these 4 differnet park pass costed me a total of 50$ or something.

there are still palces where i wanna go ski ( that I,ll ski once or twice max) where I,ll have to buy another park pass. wich will bring the total to around 80$

why cant tehy just make a regional park pass.

i think that if little kids want to hit the jumps, even tho they suck and jsut ruin the lips, they'll do ne thing, including buy a 10-15$ park pass... i dont think 10$ will keep them away from somethign they want..

if its your home mountain and u ski there alot then its worth it..but if u go there once or twice a year..then it sucks to hqave to buy a pass for two days ...

im not making a personal attack i think u mstaked wat i meant...i meant like they keep out kids that go 5-8 times tops a year have latest gera and think there hot shit and suck and ruin lips and watnot but the downside is sometimes they cost money. im not sayin anything about u im sry man

^^ thats dope.. but wouldnt that make EVERYONE get park passes? which kinda sucks..i think the little amount of money make many kids turn away..

I think they're a great idea. If I go to a park I don't mind forking out a couple extra bucks to use a park where I don't have to worry about bad jumps and gapers. I wish my mountain had one. I went to this one mountain that had a no rental equipment rule and that seemed like a good idea but they didn't enforce it very well.

yeah they deffinatly work to a certain extent. they keep some people out but not all that shouldnt be in there. definatly for them.

im going to whistler soon.. i heard they have park passes.. do all of their parks? cuz i ehard they have liek 5 parks...

its worth the money to not have to worry about sack tapping a 6 year old off a jump, or doing a 720 to girl tap

at my home hill, (where I only ski at Christmas break when they don't have enough snow for a park anyway) They are implementing a park pass next year. On the plus side, they are expanding the park and they will be able to put better features in and make it funner and more progressive for the contingent that skis/snowboards in the park. It will be great for my little brothers, because they will have a way better park that at the same time won't be as crowded. For me it will suck, because if I decide to go home on midterm break or something I will have to buy a park pass. At my college hill they just built the larger options with more vertical lips, so it scares the bajeesus out of gapers, who then take the flatter small option on the side. This seems to work pretty well, except when they just decide to have a picnic on the landing.

Theyre a great idea... but usually poorly executed.

Anyone can get one... thus making them irrelevant. At least thats how it is where ever I have seen a park pass happen.

I have mixed feelings because the places that would institute a park pass already have extremly high priced tickets. Also I feel that it could be done by having a signature by a person that belongs or the park crew that says that you are allowed in the park. I think a signature would be much better because it keeps the dicks and learners out of a good park. But also the person that has that type of athority would abuse it

but then we run into another problem... any one can buy a park pass.. so what do the mountains do? watch the person ski and see if hes good enough..i doupt that'll happen..

thats a little excessive. i mean seriously i can understand their reasoning. like if you have to pay more only good skiers or snowboarders will go in. but my mountain its 5 bucks for a park pass for all season and yea sure you get the occasional gapper but it keeps out the familys that teach their kids how to ski by going into the park

your an official dumbass if you dont like park passes. they keep all the annoying parents and their stupid children out of the park where i could easily land on them and kill them instantly.

it doesnt matter. everyone still gets them and the still fricken pizza up to the lip and roll over it

with there new park pass.

its just a con for more monay cuz EVERYONE AND TEHRE DAY GETS THEM

To hit bigger jumps at Whistler your definately going to need the pass but if your fine with smaller jumps, lots of rails and pipe you won't need it... only need it and helmets at the "highest level" park

At Stratton, park passes are free. You just have to take the time out of your day to watch a seven minute video and sign a waiver. The fact that it doesn't cost anything obviously doesn't completely eliminate gapers from the park but it prevents people from wandering in and acting stupid.

Although I think it is a great idea to have a park pass, you have to have 20 ft tables and ride on rails. People still need stuff to learn on. We were all new to the game at some point. Unless you can make two parks but that is not always an option.

Also you have to make sure you have park rules and then have park guards, like lifeguards, to supervise and have the right to temporarily pull the park pass from a person. Just making someone buy a pass does not help the cause.

seems like a great idea for the big park. how many people up for the weekend are going to go down to the main lodge and take 30 minutes out of their day to watch a video just so they can launch off the lips to the rails? it is a bit elitist to have a pass to access a part of the mountain but seems like it would make it safer.

^^^ yea thats what it usually is.. at trmeblant they have two parks and the big features u need a aprk pass.. but hills like Avila they only got one park and u need a park passes.. it really depends i gues...

i think its a good idea but it kinda sucks when you ahve to buy a pass for one day

i wa just on a school trip and they wouldnt sell us park passes

all of us can hold our own in the park and we got our parents signature before hand but they still wouldnt let us kinda annoying but a god idea overall

That sounds like the best way to do it, because that would make the gapers that have no clue what a terrain park is for think about it a little, instead of just being able to hand over a few bucks and then go snowplow the jumps. People that use the park on a regular basis wouldn't get charged needlessly and the resort would have just another piece of paper work to make it harder for people to sue.

we have park passes at our mountain i like it cause on a really bus day u can just go ski park cause no one wants to spend 10 bucks so its never busy and u don't have stupid people flying in and cutting you off

thats gay, i love strattons, its free and only takes 10 minutes,

this year they are doing a US Open after party thing at sunbowl, i guess its 10 bucks a day for a pass the weekend after the snowboard us open, and they are turning all of sunbowl into a park....that sounds worth the 10 bucks

watchusett lets everyone, and there moms to buy a pass. gets quite annoying trying to pass the 4 and 60 year olds

it kind of sucks that they let everyone get a pass even if they are 40 year old woman who just get it for random reasons, but that would be discrimination. in the end it will have stopped more kids going in than having none at all. even if it is only a few it's better than none

it sucks, at southington they never check for park passes, so all the stupid joeys go in and even when they are checking, all the little kids get park passes anyway. even the rangers have park passes and it pisses me off that they just ski down the hill. they are the reason we have park passes, to keep people like them out taht dont even care about hitting stuff and getting in the way.

Park passes are free at Snoqualmie, but they don't enforce them at all, which is really frustrating because I would really appreciate a Central without people who haven't taken the class.
