Park on a Powder Day???

hit up the pow it the morning till it get tracked out then in the afternoon hit up the park

so sinful, although i will admit the other day at mammoth after 30in fell and most of the mtn was shut down, we did a couple park runs at the end of the day, it was fun doing 180's into pow and dropping of the deck into a powder filled pipe.

 
its fun but i only do it near the ned of the day. plus they usually dont open our park till later on powder days

ride park if it gets tracked out - i usually try to find some pow lines or close enough for atleast two days after storm

 
the funny part is im not a park rat but buy the end of the day at grouse ur skiing ice so y not go to the park if i was at whistler i wouldnt

At my mountain we get a lot of snow but we have no park, so when another mountain gets powder I usually ski it first half of the day, then the park last half.

It should be common knowledge that powder days are for skiing powder until the last hour or so, then do some laps in the park.

Everyone should just not ski on powder days, cause ya know that stuff makes it so much harder to ski.

pow pow pow, i just got back from tahoe and that huge storm sequence that went through, and one of the kids i was skiing with was bitching about skiing in the trees and dropping cliffs, he said it wasn't as cool as rails, i haven't spoken with him since we returned, and i dont plan on it, i would have killed him if my mom wasn't on the trip with us!

if i said it, it must be the truth!
 
don't tell anyone but i like to take runs through the park when there a lot of fresh snow, mainly cuz everything is layerd in powder and all the landings are super soft. But by no means do i hike the park or take runs speciffically for park on pow days, i just cassually go through if its on my way.

 
The day after a good snowfall is still soft. So good for park.

Softpack in the park is perfect.

If you fall, it's soft.

If you need to carve into a lip, it's hard enough.

as sum1 said before, i just ride through the park on powder days, if its on my way to the next powder line. but it still sucks, cuz my powderskis arent twintips.

let the park get packed as you tear through the powdery woods...get tired of bustin through the powder and go sess out the park for the last 1/3 of the day.

OK guy, hitting pre-made jumps into pow via the park on a powday is really stupid, but if I saw someone hitting rails on a pow day I would have to quit skiing

Well I cant talk for all the shitty east coast skiing, but at my homies Alta and Snowbird when the deep stuff is falling, I am as well off the cliffs and cruisin down the freshies. Go to the park for all I care, leave the fluff to the real skiiers

yes ski the park on pow days, first thing in the morning. Then after the park is all tracked out go up and ski the crud that was left behind be all the pow skiers. pow sucks anyway. who wants to ski on soft snow. if we were supposed to ski in powder, they wouldn't have put edges on skis. there are edges so you can ski on hard snow not in powder.

Sometimes you really don't have a choice. The backcountry closes at 4 pm at the bigger hill (Bohemia) where I live and I don't get out of class sometimes till then and it's an hour drive so instead I just drive a mile to our park hill (Ripley) and session the tables. It's cool cause a lot of those days I'm the only one that can make the big gap (70') so the landing is all fresh. I just bomb out huge 180s and cork 3's and when it's tracked I'll look for whatever little stashes I can find.

ya it all depends on where you live, i mean you cant really blame the michigan jibber kid for goin in the park on a powder day, cuz well maybe it isnt that cool riding powder where he is from, i mean ripping a line down the cirque on a powder day is a lot diff than a kid from michigan skiing some glades on a powder day, so if your at a huge mountain i see no reason to be in the park, but if your at a smaller hill, or even east coast, i dont see anything wrong with it

ive got another version of the pole dangle, its pretty funny too, gets cold when i do it on the lift tho.

ya i guess if i skied at a lame ass moutain id ski the park on pow days too but i ski at squaw and pow days are so sick to ski there

i like to build a jump and sesh it all day on pow days. i dont even venture in the park because in the east its so wet and you dont move much.

 
I have a chance to move in Gunnison CO. next fall and I've definitely been thinking about it, but it's just hard to leave because if I go out there I won't be able to stay on my parent's health insurance cause I'll be 20. I have perfectly good park riding from nov-may in MI so I really don't feel the need to yet.
