ok so my home hill has no park crew.. the park is just maintained me be and a buddy who borrow a snow rake, ice pick, and shovel every day.. we got a slopestyle comp coming up on saturday and i have a question.. what do they use to color the lips and knuckles of jumps? its it a dye or paint? im guessing it will be flat light conditions so colored takeoffs and landings would be nice

+K for good answers

its basically just dye that is added to water....in a backpack sprayer or some sort of garden sprayer....maybe add some windshield washer fluid if its particularly cold out to prevent the water from freezing up.

food coloring or dye
ive also seen spray paint used effectively (albeit expensive and kind of messy) or gatorade when things were desperate.

marking paint lasts.. although it's expensive.

We just went to a pesticide sprayer and food coloring and it works great.

You can use anything too, doesn't have to be spray paint or dye. Just have to have something other than the color white to gauge depth off of.

as for food coloring, we have a 2 gallon pesticide sprayer we use. We were able to get a gallon of red and a gallon of orange for a total of 20 bucks. a little mix of each (not much at all and water) will go a long way!

Yup, a little pest sprayer works the best but DO NOT USE WATER, the sprayer will freeze up before you even get off the lift, I use winsheild washer fluid and colored drink mix, Yellow (dye) and blue (fluid) make green!

This sprayer is 1 gal and $20 bucks at the hardware store.

well i probably wont be using a sprayer or anything because the costs for this come out of my own pocket.. the hill doesnt really understand park mainteneance other than its a bunch of punk kids who are going to hurt themselves.. so gatorate, food dye, or spray paint... or piss as suggested above
