yo anyone affiliated with park crews out here........

why dont any parks every ink there takoffs on flat light days?

Its a standard anywhere I have been (salt lake, Co, Midwest) and Im curious why it isnt done here?
 
yeah, no doubt, i've never seen that in tahoe except for a few comps. i wonder if it is some tree hugger thing. like the ink will pollute lake tahoe to radioactive levels in one hour.
 
yeah, I've been part of park crews for the last 6 years. The reason being If you dye your park (the jumps and rail take off's) is that once you do it one day you have to do it everyday due to liablity and upper mtn. management. plus around the tahoe area they have to do with special forest and trpa (lake) rules for the enviroment. plus you can only use special colors and if it is snowing or super hot out the color vanishs very quick. hope this helps.
 
Plus, Pretty much everyone only rides park when its sunny out, and since its the suns out quite a bit no one really hits kickers when its flat light
 
yea? ive had a ton of flat light park days this year, after the snow was chopped.

Vail/Keystone/Breck/Park City/Mt. Hood Meadows/Timberline all mark there hits even when its sunny.
 
Ya, once you die one feature then you have to die them all. Then when you did it one day you have to do it everyday. Then your snow all looks orange and the die does nothing but cost you lots of money. Viscious cycle that we've tryed before but want to avoid. We'll do special events but that's it. Insurance and money dictate all.
 
yea i competed, but i was feeling like shit that day.

i think my best run was just bs sw ups on the little flat box to a straight safety five or something.
 
yeah the forest service is way more lax in the NW compared to tahoe, esspecially if the mtn is so close to the lake (heavely) that is why kirkwood can get away with it, so far away. And yeah it's ok to use during events prety much all resorts due for that, loop hole in the liablity. But the jest of it is that it's a huge pain in the ass to do each day and keep up on the fading or covering due to weater and it opens lots of doors for dumb ass lawsuits for really stupid people or people that just want to make a quick buck, then it effects everyone one.
 
heavenly gets away with it ( assuming your talking about staying open later) because it makes south lake tahoe sooooo much money.
