Park crew problems

Holy shit that's a good one!

To some extent I guess it's good he was making sure nobody was stealing your park features. More likely just wanted an excuse to bitch someone out and that was it. But yeah, lots of people have no idea what's going on for better or generally worse.

It's a liability. People don't take responsibility for their actions anymore. People are suing for anything and everything. If somebody builds a jump on a trail that isn't marked and somebody some gaper comes and eats shit on it, things can get ugly.

There's a reason places have terrain parks on designated trails with the smart style signs like this at the top of the park.

Mountains spend a shit ton of money on insurance just to operate, no need to add any extra problems. If you can tell them to stop without being a dick and explain the situation sometimes it's what you gotta do. Besides, if there is a marked terrain park at OP's mountain they should just hit the features in there.

I used to build jumps at my home mountain all the time when I was a kid. That said they didn't have a terrain park of any kid. Also life seemed to me more lax back then.

ive often pondered the idea of a park pass at PCMR. especially on holidays, it just gets way to hectic in the park and people are in there that shouldn't be. Took like 3 runs through it yesterday and saw patrol helping a ton of people.

Reading stuff like this makes me very glad that I live in Europe.

Last season my friends and I had built a jump on the side of a narrow slope, going right over some natural knuckle and into pow.

Although we looked out for people we still had to haul ass on the inrun which isn't exactly safe on a narrow site... still, nobody gave a single fuck. Even patrol skied by without caring...

on a lot of things but the mountains aren't that bad. If your mountain has a park what's the point of building a shitty booter in the middle of a groomed run. Especially one with heavy traffic.

Even if you're aloud to it doesn't make that much sense. As far as liability and joey's parents suing for everything, yeah it's pretty rough in the states.

Put stuff in and get it nice, dig it all out. Repeat that step several times and that's my season so far. Thanks mother nature. Can't wait till the weekend after break I'm going to dig it all out again then but we can get crushed with snowmaking and then build some of the stuff I really want to build finally. Space issues right now

I wanted to mention that but was scared to even say I've avoided that so far. Knocking on some wood. I've seen pictures of some really buried shit. I've had things covered with it, but you could still see the features. Digging out completely buried features is what I think hell will involve.

Working in ne, we'd have to get ice off of all the features more than a couple times, or some a hole blows a mountain of snow right at another gun.. Miserable.

Only people I ever ran into problems with were people who didn't take the time to learn the park etiquette. As a rule of thumb, that was usually entitled parents, or racers. Parents don't know, but racers really have no excuse to be such foozers.

Best I saw was a racer literally ducking an hiding behind a jump lip to scare his buddy.. How dumb are you to not see how incredibly dangerous that is??

Love that there's a park pass at Wachusett, which is a mountain that I go to a lot. Keeps the shitheads, racers, and gaper families out.

Matt, I feel your pain... Here's a snowmaking pipeline we had to find so that we could tear apart the pile with the cat.

you can see that black thing beside the guy on the right, top of a snow fence. about 3 feet tall, and idk 40 feet long? cat got too close to it and buried it, and then the snow froze over night. it was a nightmare.

/images/flash_video_placeholder.pnghuge drifts on either side of the fence, cat was driving along it to pack down snow and buried it somehow. not exactly sure how all i know is it was covered

Solid Gold right there. God bless you guys haha.

Snowballs from the lifts while raking lips. Seriously?? We're just out here improving things for you little brats.

Had a kid say "can I hit this", while I was raking a lip. He rode right next to me and threw a backie off the lip before I even had time to turn my head let alone answer a question.

It's a thankless job most times(we do get some kids and locals that say thanks and appreciate our work), not entirely unrewarding though as we get to watch gaper after gaper destroy themselves on features well outside their comfort zone.

Watched a maybe 8 year old kid go off our big air jump one year while we were setting up for a comp. Feature wasn't even open, dad was even following clueless behind the poor kid. Little ripper didn't even get close to the knuckle. Took about 8 feet of air to flat, double eject, scorpion, face slide for at least 10 feet to immediate crying and screaming. We obviously couldn't laugh, and immediately checked on him. I'm not saying I enjoyed watching this.......but I enjoyed watching this.

Brought a big ass generator up to the park today. Got there wouldn't start. Spent the day fucking with it still nothing. Used it 2 days ago and it started fine.

Y U NO WORK

Saturday will be the 4th consecutive weekend with rain for us. The only good thing about it is our ponds are getting a chance to fill back up.

For sure. That's how I was trying to look at it. The first one a couple weeks ago we lost a foot and a half of snow. Unfortunately we don't have snowmaking on a lot of trails though. But the ponds are full.
