Park crew problems

Today I was working on the park and I saw a jump that was unsafe because it was very close to the woods, because I am on park crew I went up to the kids building it and told them they should stop because the jump and location is unsafe. They continued to build so when they skied down I broke it up so nobody would get hurt. They were not pleased with me doing this so they took my ski poles of the rack and broke my ski poles in half and threw them in the woods.

So yeh you could say today was not a good day to be park crew at the local mountain. Next time I will have ski patrol deal with the situation because nobody cares about park crew and us trying to keep the mountain safe.

Anybody else have any stories about people being ass's to Park crew.

Well you did the right thing, although I agree with you; I think ski patrol would have gotten more respect from those hooligans. You could always just pick up some new ski poles from your hill's rental shop. I'm sure they wouldn't really care.

I've had to deal with this countless times. Your best bet is to play the "I'm looking out for you, what can I do to help." routine.

"When ski patrol see's this they're not going to be as kind as I am."

"Why are you building this yourself, outside the park? Is there something specific you guys want to see in the park?"

"You guys should sketch up some features you want to see in the park and drop it off at our office."

"If you guys love building/digging, you should apply next season. We're always looking for good help."

"Park Crew gets heat from management when patrol finds this stuff."

Definitely always approach stuff like this with a positive attitude. Natural jersey booters are always going to form on the side of the trail but man-made stuff should only be made by the Park Crew/Rangers for liability reasons. If they still give you shit, they're fuckin jerks and should have their pass clipped for the day.

Fuck passes just pull their throats out mcgruber style. And op just take poles from rental. I don't even work on the hill and they don't care.

Had to break up a 5 person drunken brawl. One guy had a broken nose.

My friend danetron had a dude try and strange him at the same mountain.

Telling a race coach that it wasn't cool for her little duckling ski racer line to climb all over the takeoffs and stop there and spectate and getting the heat unleashed.

Having a rail pushed over on you while by the cat.

People poaching the closed park or closed features.

The inability to win. If you close something for a couple min to fix it you're a bad person. If you let people hit it before you fix it you're lazy for not having fixed it already. You will never win over everyone. Learned that early on. Do your best to please and after that you can't really do anymore.

Broken tools especially rakes. DON'T BREAK THE FUCKING RAKES!

Hearing peoples terrible ideas 24/7. Not saying their all bad but a lot of them are. I like to use peoples feedback to make the park better but no I will not build an up down left right loop de loop rail from SSX tricky.

If you run fencing, boo, signs, etc people who love tearing them down. Now I'm untangling a fucking fence instead of raking out take offs for you. You really stuck it to the man genius.

I know, they then sat on all the rails so Nobody could slide them. They did that for over two hours and ski patrol said nothing.

Not a burn haha, it's a hill in my college town with two t-bars and maybe 5 trails and like 3 rails that don't move all season and no jumps

I probably did the most work on it last year by rebuilding lips and getting a can of cooking spray from the kitchen to grease up all the rails

People go to titcomb to fuck off and do stupid shit. Which is why its so hard for people to take you guys seriously. Get some jackets so people can identify you guys on the hill. Otherwise people are just going to think some random ass kid is yelling at them.

This actually goes a long way. We do Black pants with Black Oakley jackets all done up with our logo. People aren't going to treat you like a professional unless you look like one.

All you had to do was ride down and tell a patroller, they would be happy to go tear down a jump that shouldn't be there and you would have never had anything to do with the whole situation.

When I first took the job for the head of the department I had a partoller get in my face, threaten me, and tell me "I'm the superintendent of my school district I deal with little shits like you all the time. I'll have the GM fire you by tomorrow". I politely told him I'm not one of his little shits, pulled out the ID card that boldly displayed MANAGEMENT and had a text to my GM before he got to the bottom of the run explaining that he thought I was stealing terrain park features. In reality I was digging them out to move them with the cat. Some people just have no idea what's going on... You have to assume they're clueless.

RAIN.

Also we have a patroller that can't look more than two feet in front of him and always says that features arnt visible.

if someone does a jump they could get hurt on, its their own desicion, i dont think you shoud have broken it down
