park building...

Before I get bitched at, I know there is little snow in Ohio and Indiana, but I've really noticed this a lot lately...

Terrain parks are focusing too much on rails and jibs, I know there isn't much snow, but parks should focus on jumps:

1.I would rather see the park builders focusing on flowing runs and snowmaking, than rail building. Rails are good, but you really don't a 10 to 1 rail to jump ratio.

Our parks should be made to flow with every turn and takeoff, multiple take offs one landing could give a lot of variety w/ out a lot of snow or space.

2.I have seen a lot of this in the park at Perfect North Slopes, Indiana, and this is not ment to criticize anyone. It's just frustrating to hear all these kids yell and bitch about the new boxes, and crazy rail setups, we really don't need.

3.Think about this... one day or night before the season(maybe evening after the ski swap, ect.), the people who ride the park should meet w/ the builders, and talk about plans for next year. The skiers can say what they'd like to see, and the park builders can explain what's possible w/ the snow and time availablt for the park.

4.I realize not everyone who rides park would go to this, but anyone who cares about what they ski on should.

5. Everything I have said are just basic ideas and I realize some of you fuckers are gonna tell me how stupid the entire post was. but i think if the skiers understand the park builders(i guess thats what you call them) concerns, and the park builders understand what teh skier want to see, then the park will be the best it's every been and fun to ski everyday.

you have a lot of good points but according to our insurance company skirted rails are safer than jumps, because rails are the same every day, jumps change every 10 minutes, so it makes sense for us to have more rails than jumps.... the problem we have most about getting a flow is our total lack of space at perfects, we are the park builders and we cant even build what we want because there isnt enough time. another big problem is that sometimes the snow just wont do what we want... the idea of meeting with the builders is a good one but we would prolly have twice as many instructors there telling them to groom it flat so they can teach there.. and the people that do show up would just tell us we need 100 foot rails and 8 kinks, when they have trouble on 10 foot boxes, and we would get 2 or 3 people like yourself that actually care and wouldnt be heard... that being said adam weaver and tad feiss are in charge of telling boonie (our cat driver who attended cutters camp with tad) what to build where, we have lots of ideas about what we want to see its just a matter of weither we can get it built.

sweet. wish i would be able to make it down more. instead im stuck at BMBW, where things are allright, but they have the same problems (the groomers), plus bad management AKA kent graham .

I still just have no idea how you can mistake your dick and a chicken neck, let alone not realize what you are doing. -manus

^ i absolutely hated that run. sure it was sweet having 5 jumps in a row, but when all five jumps suck, then its no good. they are total boarder jumps with zero pop. you sorta just hover.

and yeah..... i sorta like have more jibs that jumps. for one, rails you can hit whenever, even if they are icy, takeoffs are rutted, whatever.. jumps get sorta sketchy at 12A.M. after being hit for 6 hours. and as trav said, space if prolly the biggest problem.....

GO TO PFC!!!!!

haha ^ i almost died on that think. i hit the kicker to the left, and since it was built all whack, i launched over the side of it. like, instead of goin over the deck of the jump i went over where it drops off, and just made the landing. i was sweet.

bus was definately not warm, we were freezin our nips off in there. it was prolly more comfortable cuz we had room to lay down but it was still ultra cold

and ditching out early saturday from the yearly degrading spring jam, the smarter half of MM poached the shit out of Nubs SuperPipe Saturday afternoon... Would have had no problem paying for it if it were properly set up (to flat) hope thy get it right this year

I think that it is impossible for Michigan to have flowing jump runs because we don't have the hill space for it. What I mean is unlike out west where they have a complete run dedicated to the park and trees on both sides to block out the kamakize snow plowers who like to go up the jumps at 5-10 mph, stop at the top, and fall down the back side. This forces us to share the hill with whomever wants to ski there, which causes are waiting areas to hit jumps only one at a time, because you never know what person in carhartt overalls, blaze orange hunting hat, and rental skis is trying to gather themselfs on the other side of the jump. Those are just my thoughts.

^^^^ Marquette is getting close to that....they get better every year, and a lot of the jumps are way too big for Hoosiers to even think about snowplowing...

skiing sucks
