so i realllllly want a trampoline and me and my brother have enough to get like a 16 foot NICE trampoline. anyway i've been asking for one since the end of 5th grade (which was 5 grades ago) and my parents say NO!. they say they're unsafe, not because you can fall off, but because you can hurt your neck if you land on it right. supposedly you can be paralyzed or killed. but i know this will not happen to me because ive been bouncing on them forever. if this happened to anyone else and they finally convinced their parents please tell me what you said or if you have anything else 4 me to tell my parents. i want one so FUCKIN bad!

I sent this to you in a PM

you can... seriously. take a couple of classes. most accidents do happen with inexperience on tramps at home. The biggest mistake is having 2 people on the tramp at once. Look - if you want the tramp, then show your parents you are serious about it and be legit by asking about getting some basic training. Trust me, they will appreciate it!

For all the time you have been asking... if you had spent that time in a class you would have had the tramp by now. I know it sucks, but believe me, if you push too much, you'll never get the tramp, then you will likely go to a friends house and try to make up for lost time and then guess who gets hurt?

My parents just won't let me get a tramp because they think that the little kids in my neighborhood will come come over and get hurt on it.

i guess they make your home owners insurance go up and if you dont tell your insurance company that you have one and someone gets hurt on it your get fucked in the ass

just trying to help :) I just went through all of that with my kids.

Fortunatly - well sort of for us.. A friend of ours got hurt on a tramp the week before he was supposed to leave for summer ski camp.

The basic gymnastic skills like learning to fall are invaluable. BTW they now love tramp class at the gym - the coolest thing is that they have thier coach learning all the skiing terminology. Good stuff. The gym is now very supportive and other kids who snowboard are taking an interest. ...... progression is a good thing, right?

they are extremely unsafe. they're fun, but still dangerous. no matter how long you've been bouncing on them, something could still go wrong that's out of your control and you could get seriously messed up.

it also raises their insurance if their insurance company is aware that they have one.

just find a friend that has one, that's what i did.

i always wanted one and my parents never got me one but when they got divorced my dad bought me and my bro one. but we got a net as well cuz its safewrt i guess. i dont really mind it that much tho. u can do cool stalls on the poasts. just tell ur partents toget u one if u get a net.

ask it you can get one with the net on it, so its impossible to fall off. my parents wouldnt let me have one until i suggested one with a net. it's better than nothing

My sister and I have been askign for a tramp since we were 3 years old. good luck. oh, and the home insurance thing doesn't help either.

we have been asking for one for a while. the other day we saw one for sale for $100, with a net, brand new, and they still wouldnt let me buy it. They are scared of kids getting hurt on it and sueing us.

Unfortuantely websites like these exist.

http://www.fscip.org/tramp.html

This site says 246,875. In 9 years, 11 people died on a trampoline. 11 people out of 298,444,215. The chances of you dying in a trampoline accident are about the same as you getting struck by lightning 3 times. This is just the US population.

Approximately 4% of all trampoline emergency-room treated injuries result in hospitalization.

Wow a whole 4%. This is probably an overnight stay because of a broken wrist or ankle.

People like your parents think they are educated on the matter of safety because of media and websites like this. The reality is, if you are smart on a trampoline, you aren't going to get hurt. Yeah you may break a wrist, but that's a risk you're going to have to take. I hate people that are so stuck on making everyone else's lives safer that they forget some people don't like to live in a bubble and eat disinfected tofu every day. Risks are a part of life, and you're going to have to learn that somehow.

Use some parts from this post on your parents and you will be able to get a trampoline.

Good one... yeah, its probably more likely that you become injured in their car while they are driving you to church.

hahhaa.. that's it. Tell them you don't appreciate them driving you anywhere because you might get hurt sort of like the tramp.

Better yet, don't get out of bed in the morning because you might slip and fall.

Just Kidding!! Diplomacy works best, try and get on thier level. You all will likely have kids one day.

dont leave the house because your afraid a deadly virus will make its way into your bloodstream and slowley kill you

eventually you can learn to land on ur head and not get hurt. then the next step is gaining enough air control to never land on ur head. when you jump just be sure to try not to travel, as that way you may very well get hurt

the net is worth it. for some reason, about 4 years ago, at my friends tramp i was just learning backflips and I wouldn't jump straight up, I'd like fling myself backwards and get caught at the top of the net.

but, it's true, you can hurt your neck, and the chances of you doing flips and shit only greatly increases that chance.

i lanted on my neck before and never broke t.. i guess i have a really stong neck tho, liek when i was like 8 or so, i feel from like 10 or 15 feet up right on my head on concrete and i had to get like 17 stiches and shit but liek i dunno i'm still alive and maybe i'm more durable then most people

its all about doing shit your comfortable with and working your way up. i find the nets to give a false sense of security. but honestly. for flips..i learnt frontflips first cause i think everyone does, then lincolns, then backflips. just getting more and more comfortable with being upside down and committing

dude you must have the same parents. like two years ago i was so close to gettong one then my dad had a business partner over and he told a story of his brother breaking his neck on a tramp when he was little and had hard time doing stuff for like ever

pretty much what i did. and for my birtday they bought me a 10x16 ft rectangle tramp, its siiiick. good times

10x16!! good job. I am shopping for a rectangular. I will be digging it in to about 1 foot above the groud to match pad height. Problem is.. toooo expensive.

I know, I looked into those a few years ago, and they cost more than the best ski setup you could ever have.

tell your parents you will kill yourself if you dont get one. (but dont actually do it if they dont give in.) very immature but can work
