Parents. -Help!

So,

Skiing is one of my favourite things to do in the entire world, actually forget that, it's my absolute favourite thing to do.

Unfortunately it seems i was born in the wrong part of the world, I was born and currently live in London, England (most of my family lives in Canada), and depressingly i only get to ski a couple times a year, now call me what you like, call me a one week warrior if you want (although i do ski more than a week a year, usually 2 or three), i really don't care, i enjoy skiing and thats all that matters to be honest.

So, i own my own pair of skis because well, renting skis isn't the greatest in my opinion and it often actually works out as cheaper in then end.

Anyways, the skis i own are a pair of all mountain skis (my parents bought them for me) and they're pretty weighty, mounted pretty far from centre, have a huge swing weight and are more of a charging ski. I've been trying to progress in park the past few years so i've ended up renting a pair of twin tips every now and then, anyways long story short i recently purchased a pair of atomic punx in order to support my love for park skiing and hopefully let me ski in England too! (there's a indoor ski centre near where i live which often has a park setup)

So i'll get to the point now, i've been saving for months and months and months in order to purchase these skis and i finally got enough money to order them (with help from the christmas sales) i talked it through with my mom and she didn't seem to care that much and was like yeah ok whatever, next thing i know my dads furious and starts saying that he's sending them back as soon as they get here with no discussion about it. I don't think he understands that you can't really progress in the park with skis that are hugely heavy and not what any person with any sense of what park skiing is would use in the park, he doesn't know anything about park as he's only ever skied groomers.

Long story short, i told him that its my money and i've been saving a long time for this and its what i'd like to spend my hard earned money on (i've spend months painting doors and walls for hours on end not to mention the baby sitting) Still he was having none of it and told me i don't need two pairs of skis, which i could kind of see, but twin tip park skis and all mountain skis are very different, although i was willing to sell the other pair in order to replace them with these ones, but still he needn't listen.

I guess why i made this thread is because i'd like to know what you guys think?

Do you think he's right in sending my skis back without even really understanding why i bought them?

Do you think its right that even though i worked my ass off to afford them he should still take them away?

What would you do?

Some what tempted to just order them again if he sends them back, or even just hide them when they come, but this would obviously make him even more mad.

A bit stuck here NS'ers any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, I'm 16. Not 30 and still living with my parents.

(All of this given I'm very thankful for all the things my parents do for me and grateful for all the amazing things they give me, including the skis i already own, and I'm not trying to be disrespectful by buying another pair of skis, just trying to get a ski more catered to my needs now, therefore if i did happen to sell the skis i already own the money would of course go to my parents)

That's a good shout, I'll work on it, how many hours do you think would do it?

Well if your dad is anything like you, 5 minutes should be plenty

To be honest, I would write down the advantages of having the punx over your current skis. Include such things as tech specs (makes you look like you know what is up) and why you want them.

If that doesn't work, then I don't know.

That's actually a really good idea, I'm gonna wait for him to cool off a bit and try that, thanks buddy

its not like you can play soccer(i'm american) with a rugby ball; sure, it works and is playable/doable, but its awkward as fuck and you'll look like a fucking fool

same thing with skis, sure, yeah you can hit rails and jumps with your current skis, but they arent the proper equipment to do so

Exactly what is was looking for, thanks man

Yea shitpoop hit the nail on the head. You sound super respectful about all this and real reasonable, i guess it just boils down to the fact that your dads a fucking asshole. I'd say make a powerpoint, sit him down and make him watch it while you present, (open with shitpoops analogy), and thatll get it done. If it doesnt, id go hookers

I can kind of see where he's coming from. To someone who doesn't ski regularly, it seems like a waste of money to have more than one pair of skis, especially if they look the same.

If he absolutely says no and you can't have them, do what you can with your old ones (what skis do you have now?) and save your money until you can actually get them. I learned how to 180, 360 and do rails on 1980's Blizzard skis with no sidecut and were way too big on me. At least you have twins to work with.

Oh also +K for everyone, not the guy that told me to mount my mom though, your fucked up dude haha

Do you want new skis or not? I would advise you to take my friends advice

Find something that requires a flat head screw driver and ask your dad for help with it but only give him a Philips head screw driver. Your current skis are the Philips. The punx are a flat head. You just need the right tool for the job or it won't work.
