Panda Poles

zero drag. you ever had your pole violently ripped from your hand catching it on something like a tree?

Yes, yes i have. Then you have to drop the same cliff twice and try to get your pole back

paragraph taken fromhttp://www.pandapoles.com/pages/benefits-of-bambooWhy Bamboo?
Our bamboo is grown without pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers and because it is a grass, it does not die when it is cut. Its roots stabilize eroding soils and hold twice as much water in the water table. Bamboo produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees, and absorbs almost twice as much CO2. Our bamboo has a higher tensile strength than steel or aluminum, a greater compressive strength than some concrete, and better strength to weight ratio than graphite. And even with such strength and durability, it is still a 100% compostable product.

Aluminum Requires mining of massive amounts of stone, extraction of aluminum from stone, melting, smelting, molding, blah blah blah.

Carbon fiber is basically a plastic/graphite fabric coated with epoxy (toxic glues), which requires much energy and cost to produce, and creates who-knows-what-kind of byproducts and waste.

this is such a sick concept.
as a suggestion to your friend...
make an advertisement or promotional video of some sort showing your bamboo go through the same strength tests as metal or fiber or whatever

i can only see them as being effective in powder though, park skiers land on their poles far too much

good suggestion and i wanna see it happen. I've been skiing at the bird lately at have seen these a couple times, definitely interesting but the baskets are a turn off to me. They look like theyd suck on groomers/ park. Also they're pretty damn expensive. The actual shaft, grip and straps look sick though.

really cool, original idea. im guessing that all the environmentally friendly aspects are supposed to be part of the incentive for buying these but its an awesome idea. how much do they weight?

definately sick but i might suggest having different baskets. i knowe that the zero drag are good and stuff but i dont usually have a foot of powder im skiing in just sayin more normalish baskets as an option would be sick

as suggested above: strength test video and basket options would help you sell more. pretty sick though I'd buy a pair.

Little weird, but other than that there pretty ill. (sorry for the 2 posts, I hit a wrong button...)

Yeah, they sound sick for powder! but me being a park skier i land on my poles and bend them out of shape. And one thing i like about it is that i can sometimes bend my poles back into shape. but with bamboo if you get too much bend, they will just snap and you can't bend them back and are out money.

So all i'm saying is Great for powder, but maybe not for park?

how does that long basket affect pole planting on groomers and stuff? and am i right in saying that bamboo is rigid but will flex alot under pressure, avioding snapping if you land on them?

I use bamboom poles somtimes in the park, and they work very well. The grips look sick by the way.

So after riding the poles for two months now (50+ days) they have not broke. i have been skiing the park and pow, landing on them and traversing with them. I will never own a regualr ski pole again. The poles are so fucking sick. Definately worth the buy. pandapoles.com
