I want to know what you think of this camera and if you have one do you like it?

I'm a beginner and this could be my first camera.

All the videos will be edited with adobe premier pro.

Thanks everybody

Uh what? dvc30s are like 1000 bucks, if youre looking to start filming a bunch and want to learn how to use a camera well, then a dvc30 is legit. 3ccd, scene files, etc. so legit.

yeah seriously. In my opinion, if you're looking to seriously get into filming, anything cheaper/smaller wouldn't make much sense because you wouldn't learn anything.

this. i used to have a dvc30, perfect cam for just starting out filming. it has basic scene files so you can control the look you want, and it makes a lot easier to upgrade to a dvx or hvx with already some scene file knowledge

I have a DVC-30 and I love it. I suggest getting one, it has pro features that are easy to use and understand, so you won't have a hard time getting used to it!

I've used both the GL2 and the dvc30 in my film class at my school. I like the dvc30 way better. The picture quality of the dvc30 is better than the GL2's in my opinion. It also has a bigger LCD (which you don't really need anyway...) and it has lots of manual controls. One downside of the dvc30 is that it doesn't have a record button on the handle like the GL2 has so follows won't be as easy as the GL2. Just my 2 cents.

my first camera was a GL2 and I would say that the DVC30 is a better camera because it has the same layout as a DVX, only toned down. Yeah the handle is skimpy, but unless you're a skater g00n that shouldn't really matter anyway.

same body as the DVX, only with half the features. If you somehow manage to find one in good condition, I'd say go for it. But be weary; they haven't been in production for a long while, so anything you find will probably have beat heads.

reaching down and pressing record isn't that hard, i wouldnt classify that as a downfall.

What I meant to say is...Reaching down to hit the record button is easy but having the record button on the handle just makes it that much easier and more convenient.
